Goforth Is Youth
Christopher Kyle Goforth, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Warren G. Goforth
Jr. of 108 S. Gaston St., has been
honored by the Exchange Club of
Shelby as Youth of the Month for
November.
Joe Roberts, a member of the
Exchange club selection commit-
tee, said the senior student, his par-
ents, and KMSHS counselor Anita
Campbell attended the recent
Shelby club meeting at which
Goforth was honored.
Goforth, who ranks 32 in a se-
nior class of 239 with a grade point
average of 3.444, is president of
the United Methodist Youth
Fellowship of Central United
Methodist Church where he is
acolyte and serves as youth repre-
sentative on the Church Council
and participates in the church dra-
ma program. At KMSHS, he has
been active in a number of campus
activities, including Beta Club,
marching band, concert band, pep
band, drama club, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, French club,
High Q team, Broadcast club,
Science club, Pep club, Student
Council, and is on the men's track
team.
He attended the Broyhill leader-
ship conference as a sophomore,
was winner in the School District
Math Fair as a sophomore, was a
Of Month
Senate page and attended the
Presidential Classroom in
Washington, D.C. He has volun-
teered for the Heart Fund, Cancer
Society, and Cystic Fibrosis drives
in the community, and works part-
time as a stock clerk and delivery
man at Cornwell Drug Co. Stamp
collecting, coin collecting, visiting
historical places and reading are
his hobbies.

The Grover Rural Volunteer Fire
Department will elect officers and
a board of directors Monday,
December 4 at 7 p.m. at the fire de-
partment.
