Grover Receives Hugo Money The Town of Grover has received $5193 from the state and federal governments to help pay for Hurricane Hugo cleanup but the City of Kings Mountain, which expects to receive $450,000, hasn't received reimbursement yet. "We have been told that our applications have been reviewed and are approved but the processing time will take a little longer," said City Manager George Wood. Since the board recently leased the police and fire departments to firemen, a new police station is ex- pected to be included in the pro- posed addition ‘which would also include a community room for + Senior Citizens and other groups plus bathrooms, a kitchen and stor- age facilities. McCarter said archi- tect's drawings have been complet- ed and a cost estimate will soon be made available for board study. Other projects for the new year will include recapping of streets, reseeding and fertilizing of the ball fields and construction of back- stops and benches for Brice Harry Memorial Park. Grover buys one-third of its water from Kings Mountain. McCarter told the new members that board members earn $200 a month, emphasizing the word "earn" and stressed the importance of setting the right priorities. Her promotion was announced by Acting Clerk-Treasurer Maxine Parsons. Mrs. Wyte is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Van Dyke of Kings Mountain and is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and attended Gaston College.
