Their fair was recognized for highlighting agriculture, and making the event more than a carnival. Bethware Fair Receives Award Bethware Community Fair was recently awarded a certificate of appreciation from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture for their efforts to pro- mote agriculture in their fair. North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Jim Graham made the presentation at the recent meeting of the N. C. Association of Agricultural Fairs annual meeting in Greensboro. "I am pleased to present this award based on the ef- forts to improve agriculture through presentation of quality agricultural exhibits, livestock shows and especially for the youth involvement," said Graham. 6.9% Financing Graham also noted that the award was based on promotion of skills and crafts native to North Carolina, and the presentation of all these exhibits to rural and urban dwellers alike. Announcing the award was Gene Carroll, marketing specialist for the N. C. Department of Agriculture in charge of county fairs. "I have worked closely with this fair, and appreciate all the time and effort they put into making their agricultural fair a success," said Carroll. "It's easy to have a carnival, but it's difficult to have a complete fair that involves agricul ture, youth and community." 1989 MUSTANG LX 2-Door Sedan. air conditioner, electronic AM/FM’ stereo, P195/75RX14 white sidewall tires, power window/door locks, speed control, wire wheel covers, envirornamental protection pack- Rescue Squad Fund Drive To Begin Kings Mountain Rescue Squad volunteers are knocking on doors this week inviting citizens to sup- port a family portrait fund-raiser which will give participating resi- dents new photographs of their families and raise much- needed money for the Squad building fund. Captain Joni Blanton said that Kings Mountain people have been very generous in their donations in the past which helped upgrade equipment but that the squad is try- ing now to raise enough money for a larger building. A free family portrait is avail- able to citizens participating in the fund-raiser and photographs will be made by Rainbow Productions Inc. March 3-4 between noon and 8 p.m. at the Rescue Squad building on Parker Street. Additional pho- tography sessions will be sched- uled, if needed. Blanton said that Rescue work- ers will have two items identifying them as Rescue Unit representa- tives when they visit your homes this week and next. "Residents are asked to check these two items to verify that the solicitors are repre- senting the Kings Mountain Rescue Squad,” noting that several years ago solicitors misrepresented the Rescue Squad in another pro- ject and this is no scam, we are confident with community support it will be a success," he added. "We appreciate the support given the Rescue Squad in the past. Comments about portrait quality and the Rainbow Productions Inc. staff members who conduct this project for us have been highly complimentary," said Blanton.
