The children in the Chestnut
Ridge Community have been mak-
ing themselves, their parents and
Tryon Elementary School proud
these past few weeks.
Jeana Moore won second place
in her fifth grade class with her
poster on soil and water conserva-
tion. Jeana also won honorable
mention in he Gaston County
Women's History Awareness
Awards for her composition. She
was presented a Susan B. Anthony
dollar and a certificate. The com-
positions were submitted from
grades five through nine in Gaston
County Schools. Jeana is the
daughter of Debbie and Mike
Moore.
Lachelle mcLeymore and Kim
Stewart were also among the five
chosen from Tryon School to par-
ticipate in the ninth Gaston County
Elementary Music Festival which
was held at the Ashbrook High au-
ditorium. The 100 participants
were chosen from all the Gaston
County sixth grades. LaChelle is
the daughter of Sammy and Millie
McLeymore and Kim's parents are

Wedding bells have rung for
Katie Anthony. Katie, who is the
daughter of Tony and Charlotte
Anthony of Kings Mountain, was
married to Scott Jones of Kings
Mountain. Scott's parents are Ted
and Charlotte Jones. Scott works in
Shelby and Katie is training to be a
nurse. Elmer and Mary Martin,
members at Chestnut Ridge Baptist
Church, are Katie's grandparents.
The Gleaners Class will be spon-
soring an egg hunt for the children
of the church on Sat., April 14. The
class will furnish everything and
the children will only need to bring
their baskets. The hunt will begin
~at2 p.m.
Sunrise Service will be held at
the church cemetery on Easter
morning, April 15. Breakfast will
follow in the fellowship hall.
