The children in the Chestnut Ridge Community have been mak- ing themselves, their parents and Tryon Elementary School proud these past few weeks. Jeana Moore won second place in her fifth grade class with her poster on soil and water conserva- tion. Jeana also won honorable mention in he Gaston County Women's History Awareness Awards for her composition. She was presented a Susan B. Anthony dollar and a certificate. The com- positions were submitted from grades five through nine in Gaston County Schools. Jeana is the daughter of Debbie and Mike Moore. Lachelle mcLeymore and Kim Stewart were also among the five chosen from Tryon School to par- ticipate in the ninth Gaston County Elementary Music Festival which was held at the Ashbrook High au- ditorium.
