Army Spec. Ronald L. Stacy participated in the recent military operation in Panama. The service member was sent with other U.S. military personnel to the Central American country to assist in oper- ation "Just Cause,” which resulted in the ouster of Panamanian dicta- tor, Manual Noriega. He is a military police specialist with the 82nd Military Police, Fort Bragg. Stacey is the son of Alta M. and Jerry D. Stacey of Route 5, Kings Mountain. b Casey Shipman Completes Training Navy Seaman Recruit Casey S. Shipman, son of Boyd F. and Martha D. Shipman of 1205 Shelby Road, has completed recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During Shipman's eight-week training cycle, he studied general military subjects designed to pre- pare him for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields. Shipman's studies included sea- manship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid.Personnel who complete this course of instruction are eligible for three hours of col- lege credit. in Physical Education PVT. Twelve outstanding sophomores at Lees-McRae College were elect- ed to Who's Who. Campus nomi- nating committees and editors of the annual directory have included the names of these students based on their academic achievement, service to the community, leader- ship in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued suc- cess. They join an elite group of students selected from more than 1,400 institutions of higher learn- ing in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and several foreign na- tions.
