Page 2A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, May 24, 1990 Obituaries PICCOLA BLALOCK Funeral services for Miss Piccola Blalock, 87, of Shelby Road, retired Grover School teach- er, were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, of which she was a mem- ber. _ Rev. Russell Fitts officiated, and interment was in Bethlehem ceme- tery. A native of Kings Mountain, Miss Blalock died May 21, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was daughter of the late John P. and Lottie Randle Blalock. Surviving are her sisters, Mrs. Ethel Yarbro and Mrs. Lalyage Hord, both of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Gladys Wright of Grover. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church building fund, 1017 Bethlehem Road, Kings Mountain, N.C. 28086. JOHN LEWIS HUGHES SR. John Lewis Hughes Sr., 54, of ‘Route 4, Stewart Road, Kings Mountain, died May 18, 1990, at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Conrad and Eva Dunlap Hughes. He was em- ployed as shop foreman with Nolen Concrete Supply Co. in Gastonia and was a member and former dea- con of Temple Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Betty Moss Hughes of the home; two sons, John Hughes Jr. and Jeff Hughes, both of Kings Mountain; five brothers, Gene Hughes, Harry Hughes, D.C. Hughes and Jack Hughes, all of Kings Mountain, and Erwin Hughes of Cleveland, Tn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Barber of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Shirley Oliver of Shelby. The funeral was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church by the Rev. Wray Barrett. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. OVA H. ADAMS Ova Hamrick Adams, 81, of Route 2, Oak Grove Road, Kings Mountain, died May 20, 1990 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Philadelphia D. and Charlotte Cleary Hamrick and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Caulder and Rev. Wade Boone. Burial was in the church cemetery. MICHAEL A. WHISNANT SHELBY - Michael Anthony Whisnant, 32, of 117 Kenwood Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A Kings Mountain native, he was the son of Margaret Allen Patterson of Kings Mountain and the late Wade Patterson. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three brothers, Hayward Patterson of Blacksburg, S.C., and Richard Patterson and Charles Patterson of Kings Mountain; and eight sisters, Alice Delozier of Shelby, Wanda Meeks and Frances Cavender of Bessemer City, and Hettie Richards, Brenda Surviving are his wife, Vera Ware; son, Keith Anthony Ware of Kings Mountain; daughter, Sara Ware McNeely of Kings Mountain; stepdaughter, Peggy Reynolds Levergood of Charlotte; brother, Ralston Ware of Kings Mountain; sisters, Rosalyn Ware George of Aiken, S. C. and Mary Katherine Mezger of Orlando, Fla., and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thussday night from 7 until 9 p. m. at Harris Funeral Home. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He graduated in 1975 from Kings Mountain High School. He attended UNC-Greensboro and was a gradu- ate of N.C. State University in Raleigh and Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. with a business de- gree. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Charles "Craig" Whisnant of Grover and David Wray Whisnant of Kings Mountain; and one sister, Kimberly McDaniel of Shelby. The funeral was conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church by the Revs. Russell Fitts and Ed Sessoms. Burial was in the church cemetery. JOE MEEK ORMAND Funeral services for Joe Meek Ormand, Sr., 52, ‘of 609 Meadowbrook Road, who died May 22, 1990 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, will be held Hastings, Pamela Ford, Kim White, and Doris Cook, all of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Harris Chapel by the Revs. Danny McCurry, Kenneth Cash and Charles Fite. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. RITA FALLS Rita Falls, 54, of Route 6, Patterson Road, Kings Mountain, died May 18, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Vada Wright Falls of Kings Mountain and the late Carl C. Falls. She was a craft instructor at Cleveland Community College and was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, she is survived by four brothers, Carl Dean Falls of Indianapolis, Ind., Hal Falls and Ronnie Falls of Kings Mountain, and Scott Falls of Gastonia; and two sisters, Becky Scism of Kings Mountain and Tina Cash of North Myrtle Beach, S. C. The funeral was, conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church by the Revs. Richard Plyler and J. J. Thornburg. Burial was in the church cemetery.
