She was a native of Cleveland County and daughter of the late Lyla Mae Burris Thompson. Survivors include a daughter, Rachelle Gist of New York; a son, KeLee Thompson of New York; her father, Frank Thompson of Kings Mountain; a sister, Susie McCrary of Kings Mountain; and a brother, Frankie Thompson of Detroit, Michigan. Funeral services willbe conduct- ed Friday at 4 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church by Rev. Dewey Smith. Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 8 p.m. at St. Paul Methodist Church. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Thelma Monroe, 219 City Street. JUNIE P. MOORE Funeral services for Junie Proctor Moore, 89, who died June 2, 1990 at 1 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conduct- ed Monday, June 4, 1990, at 4 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Ron Caulder officiated, and interment was in the church ceme- tery. Widow of James Gordon Moore, she was a native of Cleveland County, daughter of the late John Tillman and Ola Helms Proctor. Surviving are two sons, James G. Moore and Dean Moore, both of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Ledford of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Ethel Hale of Morganton; seven grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. BERTHA P. COLLINS Funeral services for Bertha Pack Collins, 50, of Apt. 20 Pine Manor, who died June 3, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital, were held Tuesday, June 5, 1990, at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel by Rev. Dan Silver, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A native of Gastonia, she was widow of Everette Collins and daughter of the late Pervy and Edna Earl Pack. She was a textile employee. ? BETTY PETERSON Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Pruitt Peterson, 62, of 210 Maple Street, Grover, who died June 2, 1990 in Cleveland Memorial Hospital, were conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church. Rev. James Sanders officiated and interment was in Grover Cemetery. A native of Cherokee Falls, S.C., she was formerly employed by Minette Mills. She was the daughter of Della Local Man Listed In Serious Condition Timothy George Hardin, of Route 3, who suffered burns over 50 percent of his body late Saturday night, remains in serious condition in the burn center unit of Bowman Gray Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem. Elizabeth Martin Byars, 27, of 103 Brookwood Drive, Grover, has been charged with two counts of malicious injury by use of explo- sives and incendiary device and re- leased on $7,500 secured bond fol- lowing a first court appearance hearing. Det. Charlie Ash of the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department said the couple were arguing in a yard at 206 Laurel Avenue in Grover. The woman re- portedly threw gasoline and set the man's clothes on fire with a cigarette lighter. Ash said Hardin tried to escape in his truck and Byars entered the truck on the pas- senger side and set the truck on fire. KM Banks Get High National Ratings First Carolina Federal Savings Bank and Home Federal Savings Bank, both of Kings Mountain, were listed this week in a national rating of 1989 high-performance savings institutions, the North Carolina League of Savings Institutions reported today. National Mortgage News," a weekly publication tailored to the savings and mortgage banking in- dustries, based its rating on infor- mation provided by the Office of Thrift Supervision. OTS listed all institutions that had regulatory cap- ital meeting or exceeding that re- quired by last year's Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act and that posted a profit at year's end. EUNICE HICKMAN Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Quinn Hickman, 79, of Pine Manor Apartments, who died May 29, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital, were held Saturday at 3 p. m. at St. James Methodist Church of York, S.C., of which she was a member. Rev. Stanley Evans officiated, and interment was in the church cemetery. A native of York, S.C., she was daughter of the late John and Mamie Alexander Quinn. She was widow of Tommy Hickman Sr. and a member of Ada Chapter 7 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her son, Tommy Hickman Jr of Hempstead, N. A retired employee of Martin- Marietta Co., he was married to Evelyn Ruppe Champion, who sur- vives, in addition to son, Dennis Champion of Kings Mountain; daughters, Jo Ann White of Atlanta, Ga., Sandy Richardson of Tampa, Fla., Lenore Black and Kathy Smith, both of Gastonia; sis- ters, Viola Bobbit of Littleton, Pearl Pate of Raleigh and Ruby Lowder of Portsmouth, Va. and nine grandchildren. He was a native of Harnett County, son of the late James and Mamie Campbell Champion. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and a former member of the Kings Mountain Rescue Squad.
