Math Superstars earned 500 or

and certificates during a Superstars
ice cream and cake party Friday at
North School Cafeteria.
Students who participated 75
percent of the time were also hon-
ored with the refreshments by
Harris Teeter and Winn Dixie

One hundred and thirty North
School students participated in the
math enrichment program which
focused on problem solving and
complimented their regular mathe-
matics program. The program was
managed by Kathryn Blanton and
Roxanna Gaffney with weekly as-
sistance given by parent volun-
teers, Debbie Boheler and Priscilla
Mauney, as well as the classroom
teachers. Superstars was an option-
al program for students which re-
warded those who were self-moti-
vated with good study habits. The
awards were based on the number
of points students earned: 125
points-math superstar pencil; 250
points-math superstar button; 375
points-certificate for a free pizza
from Hungry Howie's' and 500
points-math superstar T-shirt.

Wilson Receives Degree
David Reid Wilson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jerry Wilson of Charlotte,
formerly of Kings Mountain, re-
ceived his degree with honors from
North Carolina State University at
Raleigh May 12.
He is the son of Carl Wilson of
Kings Mountain and the late
Wilson was on the honor roll all
four years that he was in college.
Attending the graduation exer-
cises were all members of his fami-
ly, including his parents and grand-
father, his brother, Chris Wilson,
and his brother and sister-in-law,
degree and McKinney earned a
“master of arts degree.

Fourteen Kings Mountain area
students are among the 215 who
will graduate from Gaston College
at 7:30 p.m. June 1 in Myers
Center Auditorium.
