the annual Awards Day.
Thomas won three awards: the 7th
grade math award, the 7th grade sci-
ence award and the 7th grade academic
excellence award. Other 7th grade win-
ners were Philavanh, who received the
language arts award; Michelle Fujita
who won the Social Studies award and
Bridges who won the Good Citizenship
award.
Sixth grader Erin Anderson won
both the Social Studies and Math
awards and Christie Hughes won the
6th grade academic excellence award:
Misty Smith won the Science award
and Katie Benton won the Language
Arts award.
For the first time, the school pre-
sented the Care and Courage award to
Keith Foster, a student whose bravery
helped avoid an automobile accident.
Foster had accompanied his father, a
truck driver, on a trip when the elder
Foster suddenly became choked on a
piece of candy. Young Foster grabbed
the wheel of the truck and maneuvered
it off the highway.

Top Students Honored At North School Awards Day
North School students were honored
as Principal's Pals, Terrific Kids and
for high honors and as honor students
during the recent Awards Day in which
Principal Joey Hopper presented each
Principal's Pal with a certificate and
four ice cream passes.
Representatives of the sponsoring
Kings Mountain Kiwanis Club and
McDonald's also presented awards to
Terrific Kids. Gift certificates from
McDonald's and pencils were present-
ed.
Students were recognized for receiv-
ing all "A", high honors and A-B hon-
