Grayson-Deveney Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Shelby was setting for the Saturday wedding uniting Marie Hope Grayson and Kenneth Eugene Deveney Jr. in marriage. Rev. Joey Tomlin officiated the double-ring, candlelight ceremony. Frances Beam was organist, Christine Hamrick was pianist and Tammy Hamrick and Brent Bingham were vocalists for the program of nuptial music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an elegant gown of rich, bridal satin and lace designed with sweetheart neckline bordered with lace, Victorian sleeves trimmed in lace and pearls and jeweled bodice which extended to an A-line skirt. Cascading ruffles en- hanced the back of the skirt which spread to a cathedral train. She car- ried a colonial cascade bouquet of Sonja roses, Alestromeria lilies and streamers of satin ribbon. Tracy Green of Shelby was the bride's maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Angie Grayson and Amy Grayson, both of Shelby, Angie Whisnant of Casar and Sandra Daves of Lawndale. All the attendants wore tea-length apricot satin formals and carried nosegays of summer flowers in peach, purple and yellow. Lisa Bingham was flower girl and Stephen Hicks was ringbearer. Erin Hicks distributed wedding programs. Kenneth Eugene Deveney Sr. of Shelby was best man. Groomsmen were Tracy Wood, David Deveney, Billy Grayson, all of Shelby, and Ron Parker of Lawndale. Next to Hardees Pa Hospice of Cleveland County has scheduled a volunteer training class to begin July 9 at the Shelby Chamber of Commerce Building, 200 South Lafayette Street. The class will meet for eight consecutive Monday evenings. There is no fee and no obligation to become a Hospice volunteer. Class sessions will be taped so those missing a session can make the class up by listening to the tape. The patient count for Hospice is around 30. During the past two years the patient load has increased 41 percent. Approximately one- fourth of the patients served are from the Kings Mountain area and there is a great need for volunteers in that area. Other areas served in- clude Lawndale, Polkville and Casar where there is also a critical need for volunteers.
