Rats Land On 'Shores’ Of KM Lake Cleveland County health offi- cials, working with Mecklenburg County officials, won't charge North Shores property owners for rat poison to deal with a teeming rat population in that section of Moss Lake but families will have to agree to have rat poison on their property. Citizens who live in condomini- ums in the North Shores area have complained of cat-sized rats in their backyards. Marty Allen, environmental health supervisor, said that all property owners at North Shores are being asked to cooperate and to guard against pets and wandering children coming in contact with the rat poison once it is put out. Allen says that mass poisoning won't kill them all. He blamed heavy breeding for the unpleasant rodent problem.
