HENRY WHITE Whites Celebrate 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Henry White celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at a reception Aug. 13 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Hosts were their daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Gary Champion and their son, Michael White. A color motif of mauve and silver was carried out in decorative de- tails. The decorated 25th anniversary cake was cut and served with party refreshments. Ferns and wildflowers decorated the fellowship hall. Jennifer Weaver, niece of the couple, presided at the register. Beverly Weaver, sister-in-law of the honored couple, and Mrs. Rachel Weaver, mother of Mrs. White, assisted in serving refreshments. Bill Weaver photographed the happy group. Henry White is the son of Rush White and the late Florence White of Kings Mountain. Mrs. White is the daughter of Mrs. Rachel Weaver and the late Howard Weaver. Henry White and Patricia Weaver were married in a home wedding Aug. 13, 1965 in Kings Mountain. Both Henry and Patricia work at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. Mrs. White is on the nursing staff and White works in the Maintenance department. They are active in Oak Grove Baptist Church. e Wedding Canipe-Davis An outdoor ceremony Aug. 12 at the home of the bride's parents in McConnells, S. C. united Barbara "BR" Elizabeth Canipe of Kings Mountain and Roy Charles Davis of Gastonia in marriage. Mrs. Peggy Covington of McConnells heard the exchange of vows. The bride's father escorted the bride and Paul Davis of Gastonia, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride wore a knee-length dress in navy and blue polkadots and carried a bouquet of white roses tied with navy and white ribbon. Rhonda Abbott of Grover was matron of honor and wore a white jacket and skirt and carried white roses with navy ribbon. Jamie Putnam of McConnells, niece of the bride, was flower girl and wore a white dress and carried a basket of rose petals with navy and white bows. Steven Lee Canipe, son of the bride, was ringbearer. He wore white shorts with a navy top. Forty guests attended the ceremony and the reception, hosted by the bride's parents. The navy and white theme of the wedding was carried out in decorative details. Mrs. Glenn Canipe, Judy Wallace, Phyllis Putnam and Rebecca Canipe served refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn A. Canipe of McConnells, S. C. are parents of the bride, who is a 1979 graduate of York Comprehensive High School. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clell Davis of Gastonia and is a 1976 graduate of Hunter Huss High School and is employed by Fields Masonry in Gastonia. After a trip to the mountains, the newlyweds are at home in Gastonia. Mrs. Paul Mauney Honored With ALA Life Membership Mrs. Lillian Mauney, who joined the American Legion Auxiliary as the bride of Paul Mauney soon af- ter it was chartered in 1925 in Kings Mountain, was presented a life membership by the Unit at her home in Gastonia Thursday night. Fifteen members gathered at Covenant Village to honor Mrs. Mauney. Mrs. Maynard Snow, daughter of Mrs. Mauney and the late Mr. Mauney, pinned the lapel pin on her mother. Present as a visitor was Mrs. SRE J Lottie Means. Miss Margaret Ratterree, secre- tary of the Unit, brought a copy of the July 7, 1932 Kings Mountain Herald which was a special histori- cal edition of the Unit which praised the Unit as one of the most active Units in the state and showed front page pictures of Mrs. C.E. Neisler, Mrs. B. F. Ormand, Mrs. Paul Mauney, president in 1932-33, Mrs. Pride Ratterree, Mrs. J. E. Mauney, Mrs. B. J. King, Mrs. G.F. Rogers and Mrs. J. N. McGinnis Family Reunion Honors Rev. Gonzalez Children and grandchildren of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henkle McGinnis gathered Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for a family reunion at Resurrection Lutheran Church which honored Rev. J. E. Gonzalez of Fort Myers, Fla., who will cele- brate his 85th birthday Sunday. Gonzalez, husband of the late Geraldine McGinnis, was enroute to New York City to visit his daughter, Dr. Margie Gonzalez, and his son, Joe Gonzalez in Princeton, N. J. A retired Lutheran minister, Gonzalez provided the entertain- ment for the evening, showing family movies he and his wife took during the late 30's and 40's and featuring baby pictures of some of the large McGinnis family. The 60 family members spread a picnic-style supper. Present for the reunion, in addi- tion to Gonzalez and his host fami- ly, Mrs. Lou Sabetti and family, were Mrs. Odell McGinnis and family of Gastonia, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whetstine of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sawyer and family of Charlotte, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Eagle and family of Kannapolis, Mrs. Paul McGinnis and family, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert McGinnis and family, Mr.and Mrs. Donald McGinnis and family, Mr.and Mrs. Bill McGinnis and 4 family, Mrs. Jim McGinnis and family and Mrs. Dick McGinnis and family, all of Kings Mountain. Gamble. Mrs. Mauney delighted the members with accounts of club meetings in the early era of the or- ganization's growth.
