Edward Covington, chairman of the board of deacons, presented the minister and his family with a clock and engraved plaque from the congregation and members of the various Sunday School classes took the occasion to present them flowers and other expressions of love. Rev. Bob Davis delivered the message. Tom Tindall, a member of the deacon board, offered the morning prayer and led the responsive read- ing. Tindall also introduced the speaker. Collins grew up and spent 25 years in Texas before coming to Kings Mountain on Sept. 22, 1985 as pastor of Kings Mountain Baptist Church. He earned his R. A. in Psychology at University of Texas, Arlington, and received two master's degrees from Baptist Theological Seminary, one in reli- gious education and one in theolo- gy. He began his work in the church as a youth minister for over eight years in Texas. The Kings Mountain church is his second pas- torate. Collins has served on the Kings Mountain District School's Health Council for three years and worked with "Project Graduation.” He also served as chairman of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association Evangelism Committee and was chairman of the "Here's Hope" planning committee. He also refer- ees high school basketball, softball and volleyball. Collins has been married to Patti Haines Collins of Dallas, Texas for 21 years and Mrs. Collins works as an office administrator for Azdel Inc. in Shelby. They have one son, Keith, who is a freshman at Gardner Webb College. "Since being here we have not only experienced the love and car- ing of our church family but we al- so have felt the caring from people throughout this community,” said Collins. Babies Honored At Foursquare Gospel Foursquare Gospel Church hon- ored babies in the congregation at a dedication service recently. The youngsters represent the third and fourth generations of church members, says Rev. Oscar Stalcup, who led the service. The children were all born dur- ing the last six months. Laura Facemyer, daughter of Laura and Shane Facemyer, was dedicated at a special service last Sunday. Meagan Breedlove, daughter of Carrie and Ray Breedlove, is granddaughter of Lois Jenkins of the Four Square congregation, and represents the fourth generation in her family. She is great-grand- daughter of Frances and Bob Coley of the Foursquare congregation. Meagan's father is on active duty with the United States Navy in Virginia. Rodney Mitchell; sont of Gerri and Rodney Mitchell! 1 18 grandson of Rev. and Mrs. Reimund Allmond of the Foursquare congre- gation and his grandfather is the church's assistant minister. Lyndsey Jordan Facemyer is _ called "Soupie" by her family and ‘she is the son of Kim and Jeff Facemyer. Trevor Jordan Wallace is the son of Robin and Tim Wallace. Her fa- ther is on active duty reserves. Caitlin Noel Facemyer is the daughter of Laura and Shane Facemyer. Brittany Miranda Walker is the daughter of Robert and Sheila Walker and she has a sister, Brandy, all of whom were present for the special service. . Brittany Carpenter is the four- months-old daughter of Lisa Carpenter of the church family. Wednesday night is Family Night at the church and special ser- vices are held at 7 p.m. which fo- cus on the family. Rev. Stalcup and Rev. Dale Randle have led the special services on Wednesday for the past two months and they are continuing for two more months, “the pastor said. With the completion of new fa- cilities at the church, the former fellowship hall is being remodeled for a nursery for the new arrivals. The public is invited to hear Little and participate in the wor- ship service. Temple Baptist Church Homecoming Set Sunday Temple Baptist Church will cele- brate Homecoming Day Sunday with special services. Charter members of the church will be recognized at the 11 a.m. worship hour. Rev. Franklin Monroe will fill the pulpit at the 11 o'clock service and all members, former members and friends are invited to attend.
