Parks And Recreation Activities Ahnounced
The Kings Mountain Parks and
Recreation Department has an-
nounced the following activities.

*The Christmas Parade will be
held Sun., Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. in
downtown Kings Mountain. Any
groups, organizations or persons
interested in entering should call
the Recreation Department or pick
up an application at the
Community Center. Deadline for
entering is November 30.
*Water aerobics are held
Mondays and Wednesdays from
11-12 noon and on Tuesday and
Thursday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The
fee is $10 for senior citizens and
$15 for others.
*Candy making classes begin
November 15 from 6:30-9 p.m.
The fee is $6 and pre-registration is
required. The class will be taught
by Phyllis Lackey.
* Aerobics are taught Monday-

Still Lead Loop
John Dilling and Johnny Dye
both lost three of four games but
remained tied for first place in
Mixed Duckpin Bowling League
action Tuesday night at Dilling
Heating.
Dilling dropped three to Albert
Brackett and Dye lost three to
Wally Mocanu. Those teams share
third place with 12-16 record, ex-
actly the opposite of the front run-
ners’ 16-12 marks.
Despite the loss, Dye was the
top scorer for the night, bowling a
157 line and 392 set. R.W.
Hullender added a 117-328 but
Mocanu's team had a better bal-
anced scoring attack with all three
team members topping the 300-set
mark. Mocanu had a 128 line and
341 set, Jack Barrett added a 115-
341 and Dot Mobley had a 117-
332.
Albert Brackett rolled a 134 line
and Bill Parker added a 113-330 to
lead Brackett over Dilling. Lib
Gault led Dilling's team with a
148-369 and Dilling added a 1235-
339.
Rulers, Outlaws
Win In Bowling
The Rulers took the measure of
the Pretenders, four games to none,
and the Outlaws ripped off three
wins over the Outbackers in Mixed
Duckpin Bowling League action
Thursday night at Dilling Heating.
Ronnie Scruggs rolled a 112 line
and 317 set to lead the Rulers’ vic-
tory. John Caveny led the
Pretenders with a 114-329.
Tommy Barrett rolled a 133 line
and 359 set and Bobby Rathbone
added a 131 line and 335 set to
lead the Outlaws over the
Outbackers. Allen Myers led the
losers with a 118 line and 332 set.
Courses Planned
Residents of Cleveland, Gaston
and Lincoln counties are invited to
learn about MBA courses offered
by UNC Charlotte's College of
Business at Gaston College in
Dallas. Dr. Virginia Geurin, coordi-
nator of the program, will discuss
these opportunities at a reception
from 6-8 pm, Thursday, November
1 in the Lena Sue Beam Building,
room 010. Refreshments will be
served and ample time set aside to
answer all questions.
UNC Charlotte currently offers
extension classes for tri-county
teachers at Cherryville Junior-
Senior High School and MBA
classes at Gaston College. Other
offerings will be introduced as
needs become evident and
University resources permit.

East Fall Festival
Slated October 30
The annual East School fall fes-
tival will be held October 30 from
.5:30-8 p.m. at Central School.
‘Thee will be games, prizes, a
costume contest, ham and turkey
raffle and many other activities.
The event is sponsored by the
PTO to raise funds for the school.
The public is invited.
Democratic Rally
Tuesday In Crouse
A Democratic rally for Dr. John
Gamble and other area Democratic
candidates will be held Tuesday
from 6-8 p.m. at the Crouse
Community Center.
Everyone is invited to attend and
enjoy a free barbecue dinner.
The event is sponsored by the
Democrats from the Crouse and
Landers Chapel precincts.

A ikido self-defense classes be-
gin Wed., Nov. 7 at the Community
Center. Fees are $35 per month,
$20 for registration and $30 for a
uniform. There will be classes for
men, women and children and pre-
registration is required by going to
the Community Center and filling
out the necessary paper work. Fees
will be due on the first class date.
*The second annual Christmas
Craft Gala will be held December
1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Community Center. There will be
gifts and other items for sale.
Anyone interested in renting a
space should contact Denise Falls
at the Community Center as soon
as possible. There will be special
entertainment during the day and
Santa Claus will make a special
Visit.
*Basketball registration for ages
8-10 and 11-12 will be held
November 5-16 at the Community
Center. There is a $10 registration
fee and a birth certificate is re-
quired. The league will be affiliat-
ed with the Junior Hornets
Program and each participant will
receive a Hornets gym bag, junior
Hornet jersey, handbook, Junior
Hornet membership card, a poster,
and discounts at Pizza Hut and
Foot Locker.
