Jurek Joins Bank
Robert J. Jurek has joined
Carolina State Bank as Senior Vice
President, Cashier.
Jurek comes to Carolina State
Bank from Enterprise Bank in
Raleigh where he held a similar
position. A 19-year veteran of
banking, he brings much expertise
to the local bank. His banking
background includes responsibili-
ties in financial management, oper-
ational management, personnel and
employee benefits and general
bank management.
An Indiana native, Jurek holds
an undergraduate degree from St.
Joseph's College and a Masters in
Business Administration from
Indiana University. He also gradu-
ated from the School of Bank
Administration at the University of
Wisconsin.
John Godbold, President of
Carolina State Bank, said, "We did
much research to find the right per-
son for this position. Bob has a
similar banking background to
ours, one which places much em-
phasis on a commitment of service
to our customers."
Carolina State Bank is currently
in the construction phase of its de-
velopment, with the main office

under construction in Shelby and a
branch office under construction on
East Gold Street in Kings
Mountain. The bank anticipates op-
erations of both offices to begin in
March 1991.
Carolina State Bank is the first
new bank to locate in Cleveland
County in 67 years. The bank com-
pleted a successful stock sale earli-
er this year with some 1,100 indi-
viduals and businesses subscribing
over $6.9 million in capital.
Webber Promoted By Wachovia
Nancy G. Webber, a native of
Laurel Hill, has been promoted to
Assistant Vice President of
Wachovia Bank and Trust
Company in Charlotte.
Announcement was made by Hugh
M. Durden, Regional Vice
President.
Mrs. Webber joined Wachovia in
Laurinburg in 1965. She served in
the Bookkeeping Department until
she transferred to Charlotte in
1969.
In 1975, she entered the man-
agement trainee program and be-
came a personal banker. She cur-
rently serves as a personal banker
in the Charlotte main office.
She has served as a United Way
and Boys Town volunteer; she has
participated in the Chamber of
Commerce membership drive, and
is an active member of Friends of
the Arts.
Mrs. Webber is married to
Francis L. Webber, a native of the
Diamond Solitaire

Omni Capital Group, Inc. today
announced financial results for its
first quarter ended September 30,
1990.
For the three months ended
September 30, net income rose
27.8 percent to $1,392,000, or $.55
per share, compared with net in-
come of $1,089,000, or $.43 per
share in the same period last year.
At September 30, total assets
were $534,180,000, an increase of
3.8 percent over 1989. Net loans
and mortgage-backed securities
were $474,918,000, an increase of
5.6 percent over 1989. Deposit ac-
counts were $449,721,000, an in-
crease of 4.1 percent over 1989.
Total stockholders’ equity was
$55,785,000, or 10.4 percent of to-
tal assets as of September 30.
Commenting on the results,
David B. Jordan, President and
CEO, said, "In light of recent hap-
penings in some financial institu-
tions, we are pleased with the
strength and quality of Omni's re-
sults for the first quarter. Our con-
tinued earnings growth is at-
tributable to an increased net
interest income margin and operat-
ing efficiencies resulting from our
merger/conversion transactions.
Omni's asset quality remained
extremely high, with non-perform-
ing assets amounting to approxi-
mately one half of one percent of
total assets at September 30.
Jordan also announced that on
October 18, the Board of Directors
declared a quarterly cash dividend
of seven cents per share payable on

Thursday
Kings Mountain High's junior
varsity football game will host
Burns at 7 p.m. Thursday at John
Gamble Stadium.
The game had originally been
scheduled two weeks ago but was
rained out. The two teams decided
at that time not to make up the
game.
However, Burns found out
Wednesday that its scheduled game
at South Point Thursday was being
cancelled because the Raiders had
to call their jayvee players up to
the varsity.
Kings Mountain carries a 3-0
conference and 6-1 overall mark
into the contest.
The Mountaineers end their sea-
son next Thursday at East
Rutherford.
