Award recipients were recognized for years of service with no lost time accidents. The company's safety record is to be commended as the last recordable injury was on June 21, 1988 and the last lost time in- jury was March 21, 1985. Award recipients included: 20 Years - Troy Morrow, Charles Odems and Nova Young. 15 Years - Mickey Blankenship, Richard Bridges and Randy Farmer. 10 Years - Dean Garner and Rick Sutherland. 5 Years - Dennis Guidry. ELECTION From Page 1-A Harris led the voting in last May's Democratic pri- mary, followed by Rhyne, Rauch and Bruce Scism of Kings Mountain. Weatherly, the first Republican elected from N.C. House District 48, is seeking his second term in a six- person field. Three seats are available. Other incumbents are Democrats Edith Lutz and Jack Hunt of Cleveland County, and the three men try- ing to unseat the veterans are Democrat Bill Withrow of Ellenboro, and Republicans Dick Hoagland of Forest City and Tony Helton of Forest City. During his first term in Raleigh, Weatherly spon- sored bills to require headlights to be on when it's nec- essary to run windshield wipers, and to make it easier for North Carolina residents who recondition cars to get new titles for them. Hunt, of Lattimore, has served eight terms in the House, and Lutz, of Lawndale, has served six terms. In other local races, Jim Morgan opposes Greg Calvin Smith for District Court judge; William Young is unopposed for District Attorney; Linda Cline Thrift goes against Kings Mountain native Pamela Morrison Edwards for Clerk of Superior Court; Buddy McKinney is unopposed for Sheriff; Ralph Mitchem unopposed for Coroner; and T. Paul Davis and Cameron Ware of Kings Mountain are unopposed for | Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors. Voters will also be voting on a $200,000,000 bond issue for improvement of prisons and youth services facilities in North Carolina. The state race drawing the most interest is the U.S. Senate race between incumbent Jesse Helms and chal- lenger Harvey Gantt. Tenth District Congressman Cass Ballenger is opposed by Daniel R. Green Jr. Other state races include various court offices. There are 23 polling sites in Cleveland County. Debra Blanton, Supervisor of Elections, said votes will be posted at the Cleveland County Volunteer Fire Department, 221 E. Graham Street, as soon as possible after the election.
