Students Attend Fashion Workshop Cleveland Community College Fashion Merchandising coordina- tor Becky Parris and her day and night students recently attended a fashion workshop/seminar spon- sored by Double Take of Charlotte at the Punchline in Charlotte. The evening seminar covered the fol- lowing topics; professional hairstyles for the 90's, professional make-up, updated wardrobes for the professional, and updated ac- cessories for the professional. Dr. Dottie McIntyre, Cleveland Community College associate vice president of communications and development, and Linda Elliott, CCC part-time English instructor, recently attended the Visiting Artist Conference in Greensboro. They attended business sessions as well as over 30 performances. KM Schools To Hold Parent Fair Kings Mountain District Schools will sponsor a Parent Fair on Tues., Nov. 13 from 6-9 p.m. at Kings Mountain Middle School. Parents from each of the district's eight schools are invited to attend. "Make Education a Family Matter" will be the keynote address and will be given by Patsy Linker. Ms. Linker is a consultant and trainer with companies in Charlotte in developing parent involvement in education programs. While em- ployed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools she was instrumental in the founding of their parent in- volvement program called "Education is a Family Affair." Mini workshop sessions will be offered in the following areas of in- terest: Session 1 - "Creative Art Ideas." Presenter, Lisa Olsen, art teacher, Kings Mountain High and Judy Hancock, art teacher, Middle School. This will be a hands on session where participants learn some inexpensive, creative art pro- jects to do with young children. Session 2 - "Eating and Cooking with Your Child-Nutriciously." Presenter, Ann Bennett, personal services lab teacher, Middle School. Participants will see demonstrations and receive ideas on nutritious snacks and meals for kids. 'The Big Seed’ Set At College CCC's Childrens’ Theatre class and the Greater Shelby Community Theatre will present "The Big Seed," November 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m., November 17 at 10 a.m. and November 18 at 2:30 p.m. in the CCC auditorium. In honor of CCC President Dr. L. Steve Thornburg, the production is part of the college's 25th an- niversary celebration. Tickets are $5 for general admis- sion and $4 for students. Drama Conference in Winston-Salem. Student Development Personnel Association in Southern Pines on October 4 and 5. Special emphasis at the conference was place on stu- dent progress and tracking, person- al and college transfer counseling, labor market demands for the fu- ture, and commission on the Future Update. Orlandi Earns Degree At UNCG Laura M. Orlandi of Rout 3, Kings Mountain, recently complet- ed requirements for a Master's de- gree in Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
