Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kenneth Moss of Kings Mountain announce the
engagement of their daughter, Amanda Elaine, to Benjamin F. Melvin
Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin F. Melvin Sr. of Kings Mountain.
Miss Moss attended Cleveland Community College and is a 1988
graduate of the International College of Beauty. She is employed by the
J.C. Penney Styling Salon in Gastonia.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School
and Cleveland Community College. He is employed by the Kings
Mountain Police Department.
The couple plans a Dec. 1 wedding.

Spurr-Weaver
Kimberly Dawn Weaver of Burlington and David Andrew Spurr of
Burlington were married Saturday, Oct. 13, at West Oxford Baptist
Church in Oxford. The Rev. Robert L. Phillips, pastor of Calvary Baptist
Church in Durham, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald B. Weaver of
Oxford and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben C. Hamrick of Kings
Mountain. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill where she earned a double degree in journalism and speech
communications. She is employed as a reporter with the Times-News in
Burlington.
Parents of the bridegroom are Dr. and Mrs. Harvey W. Spurr Jr. of
Oxford. He attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh and is

opened the new "Hudson's for
Men" store at 1 W. Warren St. on
the Courtsquare in Shelby. This lo-
cation was originally occupied by
the Charles Store, Wise Fishions
and most recently by Hudson's
Fabrics.
The 5,000 square foot store has .
been totally renovated, refixtured
and relighted and will offer fash-
ions for men, young men, prep
sizes, plus all shoes for men. The
store will offer a greatly expanded
selection of size ranges, styles and
brands for today's man.
