oR ip Foursquare Gospel Church re- cently dedicated a new multi-pur- pose facility that will serve as a gymnasium, fellowship hall, class rooms and other purposes. The building was dedicated in honor of Rev. Oscar Stalcup, who has served as pastor since 1981. Dr. Glenn Burris Sr., Supervisor of operations of the International Foursquare Gospel Churches in the Southeastern United States, was the guest speaker for the home- coming/dedication service. The new facility is equipped with new bathrooms and showers, several new class rooms, a large kitchen, two large entrance ways, a new parking lot and a large gymna- sium/fellowship hall. "The new facility will greatly enhance the ministry of the Foursquare Church," Rev. Stalcup said. Rev. and Mrs. Stalcup have been pastoring at the Kings Mountain church since March, 1981. Many of their family members were pre- sent for the dedication, including both of their parents, Bonnie Servis and Margie Stalcup Pursley. A large plaque dedicating the new fa- cility to Rev. Stalcup has been hung in the new entrance way. His picture and a number of his at- tributes are listed on the plaque. An additional plaque commend- ing the Church Council and Elders who served as the building com- mittee has also been placed in the entrance way. The councilmen are Lewis Barrett, Robert "Bob" Coley, Richard Harrison, Jerry Hudson, Robert Jones, Jim Norris and Richard Carveth Wells. The elders are Lewis Barrett and William "Bill" Crawford. Several others who made special financial and physical contributions are listed on the plaque also. Construction began in February of this year. Yard work, inside and outside painting, and construction cleanup was done during the con- struction by members of the church. Nearly every member con- tributed some form of labor during the construction. Carveth Wells thanked all those who gave finan- cially and physically during the construction period. Special recognition was given to Calvin Payne, who volunteered each day to see that the yard work, NEW CHURCH FACILITY - Calvin Payne, Rev. The contractor, Jack Kiser, was presented a Bulova pocket watch for the work he and his sons did on the facility. The Kisers built the Foursquare sanctuary in 1982. The choir, under the direction of Glenda Crawford, sang a special, "God Bless This Church." Special music for homecoming and the dedication service was provided by the Facemyer and Norris Family. The church gave special appreci- ation to Butler Heating and Air, Burch Electric, Maynard Philbeck, Lovelace Plumbing, Lybrand Interiors, and Randle Brothers Grading.
