CLIPPARD Henry James Clippard, 85, of 827 First Street, Kings Mountain, died December 19, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late David Alexander and Susan Queen Clippard. He was a retired textile worker and member of First Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife, Etta TREY ROPER Trey Roper One Year Old Donald Edward "Trey" Roper III celebrated his first birthday December 13 with a party at the Kings Mountain Depot Center. Trey's aunt and godmother, Diane Whetstine, was the hostess. Entertainment was provided by Mrs. Jean The Clown (Jean McAbee). She entertained by singing and dancing with the chil- dren and by passing out party fa- vors to the guests. Trey is the son of Terri and Donnie Roper of Grover. He has a three-year-old sister, Whitney Lashay Roper. Trey is the grandson of Donald Edward Roper Sr. of Grover, Carolyn and Ted Guffey of Kings Mountain, Linda and Ben Ellis of Blacksburg, S.C., and Darlene and Ken Railey of Lowell. Trey's great-grandparents are Clarence Whetstine of Grover, Mamie Roper of Kings Mountain and Betty and Philip Lawson of Kings Mountain. His great-great- grandparents are Ada Lawson of Kings Mountain and Macie Smart of Clover, S.C. Children attending the party were Whitney and Sarah Roper of Grover, Chase, Roper, Chad Wright, Shea Drawdy, and Jackie Bridges of Kings Mountain, Tyson and Adam Ellis of Blacksburg, S.C., and Abbey and Daniel Whetstine and Barry and Davey Rhames, all of Charlotte. Fifth Sunday Singing At Piedmont Baptist Piedmont Baptist Church, 101 Benfield Rod, King Mountain, will have a fifth Sunday singing December 30 at 7 p.m. "The Royals" of Stanley will be featured. Refreshments will be served. Rev. Donald Denton, pastor, in- vites the public. Watch Night Service Set A community watch night ser- vice will be held Mon., Dec. 31 from 10 p.m. to midnight at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Watterson Street, Kings Mountain, Rev. C.A. Feemster invites all churches in the Kings Mountain area. Churches are asked to bring a donation for the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry. The Crisis Ministry, sponsored by the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association, provides year-round help to needy persons in the Kings Mountain area. CHURCH From Page 1-A will be Steve Marlowe, Steve Wells, Larry Meunch, Marlene Smith, Nancy Camp and Heather Crowley. Poinsettias on the altar are placed by Mrs. Mary Hambright of Grover in memory of Ashby Tyree and Buford Hambright. Prior to the worship service, the congregation will gath- er at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Larry Meunch for a Christmas par- ty. Phillips Clippard; one son, David Clippard of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Ruth Bagwell of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Spurgeon Scruggs Friday at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. JAKIE GARRETT BISHOPVILLE, S.C. - Jakie Garrett, 30, of Twin Creeks Road, died December 18, 1990, at Lee County Hospital. She was the daughter of Jack and Vivian Garrett of Dallas.
