LUCILLE DAVIS Funeral services for Mrs. Lucille Lowe Davis, 78, of 1117 Oak Grove Road, who died Dec. 29, 1990 at home, were conducted. Dec. 31, 1990 at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. John Heath officiated, and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A native of Tazewell, Va., she was widow of John Henry Davis and daughter of the late Will and Beulah Mae Lowe. She was a member of Church of God. Surviving are four sons, Richard Proffitt Jr. of Jolo, West Virginia, Roy Lee Proffitt of McCan, Washington, Bob Proffitt of Linside, West Virginia, and Jack Proffitt; daughter, Edith Faye Blankenship of Kings Mountain; sister, Mary Akers of Bluefield, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. MARY MURRAY Funeral services for Mary Lee McCleary Murray, 90, of Route 1 Shady Grove Road, who died Dec. 27, 1990 at Kings Mountain Hospital, were conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Vestibule AME Zion Church. Rev. Cornelius Bell officiated, and interment was in Adams Chapel AME Zion Cemetery. A native of Greenville County, S.C, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia ‘Miles McCleary. She was widow of Rev. Sloan George Murray. Surviving are six daughters, Beatrice Adams of Brooklyn, N. Y., Mary Frances Johnson, Mrs. Marion Hunt, Ernestine Hamrick, Cora White and Dr. Pearlie Brown, all of Kings Mountain; 19 grand- children and 25 great-grandchil- dren. : She was a member of Vestibule AME Zion Church, Eastern Star Ida Chapter No. 10, Heroines of Jericho, Lydia Court No. 12 Bessemer City,and Friendly Aid Society of Ebenezer Baptist Church. § JANE WRIGHT : Mrs. Jane Davis Wright, Kings Mountain native and former resi- dent, died Dec.10, 1990 in Marshall. She was widow of Baxter T. Wright Sr. and daughter of the late John H. and Jennie Barrett Davis. A member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, she was active in all organizations, in- ‘¢luding Sunday School teacher, wMU: py Ah ‘and #Vacation Bible School until her ill “health. A former member of the Open Gate Garden Club, she was also an instructor at Happy Land Nursery. . Burial was conducted at Mountain Rest Cemetery on Friday, Dec. 21, at 4 p.m. i. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Betty Blanton of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Bob, Glenn and Sarah Barkley of Gastonia; Baxter Wright of Candler; and Douglas and Constance Wright of Asheville; and her great-grandchildren Travis, Traci, Tiffany Wright of Candler and Katlin Barkley of Gastonia. FRED GREEN : Funeral services for Fred Thomas Green, 72, of 111 Lovelace Road, who died Dec.24, 1990 at home, were conducted Dec. 26, 1990 at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, of which he was a member. “Rev. A native of Cleveland County, hie was the son of the late John W, and Rilla Morgan Green and was married to Lois Lovelace Green, who survives. He retired as a steel worker from Duke Power Co. after 22 years of service. He served with the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department and in World War II. Also surviving are his son, Emmett Green of Kings Mountain; daughter, Marilyn G. Harmon of Harker Heights, Texas; two broth- ers, Frank Green of Kings Mountain and J. V. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Minnie Humphries and was widow of Curtis H. Falls. Sr. She was retired from Threads, Inc. and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and an officer of Woodmen of the World in Bessemer City. Surviving are her son, Ralph Falls of Gastonia; sisters, Mrs. Ollie Mae Adams and Mrs. Mildred Queen, both of Clover, S.C., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. THELMA LEONA WRIGHT Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Leona Wright, 79, of 603 W. A retired textile employee, she was widow of George L. Wright and a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Pat Sisk Wise. Gold St., who died Jan. 2, 1991 at Kings Mountain Hospital, will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel by his pastor, Rev. Harwood Smith, interment follow- ing in Mountain Rest Cemetery. A native of Cleveland County, he was a private investigator and president of Security Police Inc. of Gastonia. He was married to Coleen Moss Reynolds, who survives, and was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and a Army veteran of World War II. : Surviving, in addition to his wife, are sons, Jake Clarence Reynolds of Salem, Oregon and Joseph Reynolds of Kings Mountain; daughters, Donna Ward of Charlotte and Colette Hudson of Newton; brothers, Jack Reynolds of Taylorsville and Dan Reynolds of Hollywood, Fla.; sisters, Nell Heady of Patterson, N. J. and Jan Condry of Columbia, S. C. and four grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home. Musical Auditions At KMLT Saturday Kings Mountain Little Theater will conduct musical auditions for "Some Enchanted Evening" Saturday, Jan. 5, from 12 noon un- til 2 p.m. at Park Grace Auditorium. Accompanists will be present but those auditioning should bring music and samples of their talent to show flexibility and range of mu- sic. Linda Dixon and Julia Wood will direct the Rogers & Hammerstein musicale on Feb. 14- : 17 and Feb. 21-23. Choral Society Sets Auditions The Gaston Choral Society, un- der the direction of Mary McFarland, will hold auditions January 10 at 6:45 p.m., followed by the regular rehearsal at 7:30. Senior Citizens at the Depot will kick-off January activities with a dance Saturday from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. to the music of "Sweet Ambitions." The theme for the dance will be the "Roaring 50's" and guests are invited to dress in poodle skirts and peg-leg pants, slick their hair back in the 50's style and boogie.
