IN KM RELAYS - Lindsay Suber competes for Kings Mountain's Mountaineers in Saturday's second
annual Mountaineer Relays at Neisler Natatorium. Charlotte-Mecklenburg 4-A teams won all but one of
the events.
KM First In Thursday Meet
Kings Mounilin' s boys and girls
won a four-team swim meet
against Salisbury, South Point and
Chase Thursday at Neisler
Natatorium.
KM's boys won with 124 points,
followed by Salisbury 110, South
Point 44 and Chase 8. KM's girls
won with 97 points, followed by
Salisbury 89, South Point 68 and
Chase 42.
"I was very pleased and sur-
prised by the team effort," said
Coach Gordon Edwards. "Fist, I
had allowed our swimmers to
choose different events from the
ones they normally swim. I discov-
ered talent that had been hidden
before. Our goal for the team sis
for our swimmers to be able to
swim three to four strokes well,
which gives the coach flexibility in
placing swimmers in events and
makes the team stronger. We are
approaching that goal with most of
our swimmers.
"Secondly, Salisbury had 40
swimmers and I thought they
would beat us with sheer numbers.
I was proud that our swimmers re-
sponded so well and beat them."
KM swimmers set 28 personal
records and six school records.
Edwards named Marie Mayse and
Aaron Allen swimmers of the
week.
