present
program
In an effort to improve student
achievement, the Space Bubble
tcam at Kings Mountain Middle
School uses "Positive Pupil
Power."
Recently at the Middle School
* Conference held in Raleigh,
KMMS teachers Alison Carswell
and Reca Wright presented the pro-
gram.
~The strategy not only helps mo-
tivate the students to do better
work, but also enhances good dis-
cipline. The students are rewarded
positively for their academic and
behavior efforts.
The purpose of the program is to
give students the power to obtain
positive rewards, feedback and
praise. Different activities are held
for students each month, however,
the must earn the privilege to at-
tend.
"In order for students to react
positively to assignments, con-
structive criticism, or praise, teach-
ers must remember to be as posi-
tive in the classroom as they expect
the students to be," Wright and
Carswell said.
