he was son of the late Max Paul
and Katherine Caldwell Haller. He
was employed as a diesel hy-

Surviving are one sister, Diane
Curry of Redbanks, N. J. and one-
half sister, Nancy Lingo of Atlantic
Highlands, N. J.

ducted March 4, 1991 at 10 a.m. at

of Shelby. Two sons, Harold
Philbeck and Dean Philbeck Jr.,
preceded him in death.
The funeral was conducted May
4, 1991 at 2 p.m. at Davidson
Memorial Baptist Church. Dr.
Bobby Ridge officiated and burial
was in Cleveland Memorial Park.
BERTHA B. MOORE
BLACKSBURG, S.C.-Bertha
Black Moore, 74, of 501 Ridge
Road, died May 6, 1991 at Shelby
Convalescent Center.
A native of York County, S.C.,
she was the wife of Sherman
Moore, who survives, and daughter
of the late Real and Alice
Flemning Black. She was a mem-
ber of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her
husband, are three brothers, L. J.
Black and Floyd Black, both of
Kings Mountain, and Ben Black of
Patterson; Springs; and one sister,
Faye Hipps of Blacksburg.
The funeral was conducted May
8, 1991 at 3 p.m. at Antioch
Baptist Church. Rev. Lloyd
Sanders and Rev. Dennis Aldridge
officiated. Burial was in Antioch
Cemetery.

Cancer tennis
The Shelby Tennis Association
will sponsor the annual Cancer
Fund Tennis Tournament June 21-
23. Events will include men's and
women's singles, along with men's,
women's and mixed doubles.
Divisions will be open, A, B and
C.
Entry fee for STA members is
$10 for singles and $15 per team in
doubles. Non-member entry fee is
$15 for singles and $25 per team in
doubles. Entry deadline is Mon.,
June 17 at 6 p.m.
