ROBERT PITTMAN Myers-Pittman Chapel Grove Baptist Church of Gastonia was the setting for the 2 p.m. June 1 wedding uniting Janice "Muffet" Myers and Robert "Buddy" Pittman in mar- riage. Rev. Robert W. Little, minister of Central United Methodist Church of Kings Mountain, officiated. Mrs. Myrle McClure was organist and Mrs. Linda The bride was given in marriage by her father, Eugene M. Goforth. Her wedding dress was a tea- length, candlelight design of bridal satin overlaid with lace with a fitted bodice and a cape collar edged with lace. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and Queen Ann's lace, Jean Burns of Gastonia was her sister's matron of honor and only attendant. She chose a mauve two- piece linen suit and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bridegroom's father was best man. Groomsmen were Jon C. Burns of Gastonia, broth- er-in-law of the bride, Mike Pittman of Atlanta, Ga., brother of the bridegroom, and Terry Boyer of Rock Hill, S. C. Anna Burns, niece of the bride, kept the register. The reception was held in the fellowship hall of the church. The pink and white theme of the wedding was carried out in decorative details. The three-tiered wedding cake was served by Lou Ann Parker and Bobby Joe Pittman. Tammy Ellis and Danielle Johnson served punch. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene M. Goforth of Kings Mountain. She is a 1977 gradu- cosmetologist. She is employed with Thermacote ‘Welco in Kings Mountain. Pittman of Gastonia, is a 1971 graduate of Ashbrook High School, Gastonia, attended Gaston College and York Technical College in Rock Hill, S. C. He re- ceived pilot training at Acme School of Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas. He is employed with Carolina Jet Parts Inc. of Rock Hill, S. C. After a wedding trip through the Carolinas, the newlyweds are at home in Rock Hill. DREW BRIGGS MORRIS Beam-Morris Corinth Reformed United Church of Christ at Hickory was the setting May 25 for the wedding of Shannon Aurinda Beam and Drew Briggs Morris. Rev. Malcolm Kilborn officiated the ceremony for which music was provided by David Lail, organ- ist; Mike Willis, harpist; Glen Heffner, keyboard; Nancy Abernathy, flutist; David Abernathy, dul- cimer; and Denise Baxter Yoder, soloist. ~The bride was-given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal wedding gown of white bridal satin and lace featuring a dropped waist bodice of reembroidered lace appliques and pink satin roses and a yoke of silk organza with a high close fitting, stand up collar. The pleated, flared skirt was en- hanced by a cathedral train trimmed with lace and a back bow lined in pink satin. The bride's formal gown and her veil, edged in lace, pink satin ribbon and pearls, was designed and made by her mother. A Juliet cap covered in pearls held her fingertip veil of illusion. She carried a bouquet attached to a handpainted fan carried by the bride's great- great grandmother, Swannora Beattie Ware, on her wed- ding day September 10, 1890. The bride wore a. pink cameo pin belonging to her great grandmother, Julia B. Beam, and purchased in France during World War II by David Paul Beam. The bride's wed- ding band was made from a band belonging to her grandmother, Mabel Farnsworth Beam. She carried an antique handkerchief belonging to the bride- groom's mother. Theresa Bumgardner McHaffey of Belmont was her cousin's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Donna Morris-Junod, of Washington, D. C., sister of the bridegroom; Donna M. Wilson of Morganton, Tammy Barlowe of Granite Falls and Leanne Alexander of Atlanta, Ga. All the attendants wore pink taffeta floor length dresses featuring elbow sleeves with dropped waists and flared skirts with lace appliques at the necklines and at the edge of the sleeves. They carried crescent shaped bouquets of white and pink orchids. Honorary attendants were Mrs. Jamie Boyd of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Danya Bourque of Cherryville, See Beam, 3-B It's a boy for Smiths Mr. and Mrs. John David Smith of Stanfield announce the arrival of their son, David Axle Smith, June 1, Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. The baby weighed seven pounds, 14 ounces. Mrs. Smith, the former Sally Love, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ila Morrow Mcintyre of Kings Mountain and the late George A. Morrow. Other member of the Smith fam-, ily is five-year-old Joshua Morgan. Pittman, parents of the bride- groom-to-be, at Fortress Restaurant in Gastonia. Places were set for 30 at a beau- tifully appointed table using the pink and white wedding theme. A dinner of prime roast beef, creamed potatoes, green beans, tossed salad, iced tea and rolls were served with a chocolate pound groom's cake. An after-the-wedding party June 1 for the newlyweds was hosted by the bride's sister and brother-in- law, Jeannie and Jon Burns, at the Elks Club on Linwood Road in Gastonia. The happy couple was chauf- feured to the party by Frank Cook of Gastonia in his black 1935 Ford two-door sedan which was decorat- ed appropriately in the "just mar- ried" fashion. The guests enjoyed party re- freshments and danced to music hosted by Disc Jockey Jim of Roy Rosen's "Traveling Music Machine" of Charlotte. A bridal luncheon on May 25 was hosted by Mrs. Edna Ruth Saunders at her lovely home on _-Gaston Street.. She .was:assisted-by--— | her daughters, Deanna Bell and Shannon Coppala. The bride-elect wore a pink two- piece dress with a white collar trimmed in lace and a corsage of miniature white roses, a gift of the hostesses. The hostesses also took the occasion to present the bride- to-be with a vegetable bowl in her selected china, A delicious meal of baked ham, CUB SCOUT DAY CAMP- Cleveland County Cub Scouts are gearing up for a fun-filled week at annual Day Camp June 17-21 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Shelby High School. Scouts will enjoy a super- vised program of swimming, archery, crafts, BB ranges and oth- er outdoor skills. Registration is $22 for Cubs and $25 for non- Scouts. The honoree was presented with a gift of stainless flatware and an iron skillet. A dinner party hosted by David L. McGuirt, Customer Service Manager of Thermacote Welco, was given in honor of the engaged couple at Longhorn Steak House in Gastonia May 21. Dinner was served to 12 guests. A miscellaneous shower on April 28 was held at the home of Mrs. Bea Barger in Gastonia with Pam Barger, Patti Carpenter and May Carter as co-hostesses. The bride-elect wore a white two-piece cotton dress with a floral design and a corsage of white daisies, gift of the hostesses. The serving table was overlaid with a lace tablecloth and a held a central arrangement of mixed cut flowers. Chicken salad, cheese wafers, nuts, mints, petit-fours and punch were served. Special guests were Fay Goforth, mother of the bride-elect, and Mary Pittman, mother of the bridegroom-to-be.
