A native of Chester County, S.C., he was the son of Annie Mae _ Benson Rape and the late Thurlow Bogan Rape. He was a retired dof- fer at Hamrick Mills, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Harvey Rape. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Shirley Rape Wessinger of Chester and Trudy Rape Scruggs of Kings Mountain; one son, James Walter Rape of Shelby; two brothers, Robert W. Rape of Blacksburg and James M. Rape of Chester; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grand- children. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Dr. Billy Boone officiated, assisted by the Revs. Richard Brown of Belmont and Allister McKinney of Gaffney. Burial was in Clingman Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the General Fund, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. INEZ R. GOLD EARL - Mrs. Inez Roberts Gold, 87, of 3030 Bettis Road, died June 15, 1991 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby. . A native of Patterson Springs, she was the daughter of the late Samiel and Emma Dellinger Roberts and wife of the late Robert Lee Gold. She was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church, She is survived by two sons, William D. Gold of Rutherfordton and Sam H. Gold of Earl; four daughters, Mrs. Sarah Robinson, Mrs. Norris Lee and Mrs. Ruth Blanton, all of Earl, and Mrs. Mildred Phillips of Star; one broth- er, Lloyd Roberts of Shelby; nine grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. David. Gordon. Burial was at Sulphur United Methodist Church ceme- tery. GOLD SHELBY - Alma Branton Gold, 88, of Carolina Care Center, Cherryville, and formerly of Chatfield Road, Shelby, died June 14, 1991 at Carolina Care Center. A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of the late Julius W. and Claudia White Branton and wife of the late Ralph R. Gold. She was a homemaker and member of Zion Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, R. Donald Gold and Hugh Gold of Shelby; one daughter, Evelyn Hamrick of Lattimore; a sister, Wilda Hamrick of Shelby; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grand- children. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Russell Fitts Saturday at 3 p.m. at Zion Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. LUCRETIA ALEXANDER Lucretia Eldee Lovelace Alexander, 88, of 623 Mary's Grove Church Road, Kings Mountain, died June 14, 1991 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William Perry and Melissa Jolly Lovelace and wife of the late - Luther Benjamin Alexander. She was a housewife and member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. She is survived by two sons, David Smith and Harold Alexander, both of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Joan Story and Dicie Lue Ressler of Kings Mountain and Addie Bell White of Forest City; 26 grandchil- dren; and 31 great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Ron Caulder Sunday at 3 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. TILLMAN PEARSON Fredrick Tillman Pearson, 78, of 402 E. Parker Street, Kings Mountain, died June 16, 1991 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert and Emma Jane Hawkins Pearson. He was retired as custodian for the City of Kings Mountain. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude White Pearson of the home; a daughter, Gail Phillips of Kings Mountain; a stepson, Reggie White of Kings Mountain; a step- daughter, Cathy Day of Mount Holly; six brothers, Olland Pearson, Flay Pearson, Everett Pearson, Arthur Pearson and Roy Pearson, all of Kings Mountain, and S.R. Pearson of Bessemer City; a sister, Roberta Cobb of Detroit, Mich.; two grandchildren; and five step grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m.at Harris Chapel by the Rev. Larry Burns. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. LARRY SMITH SR. Larry Bernard Smith Sr., 33, of 151 Ebenezer Road, died June 12, 1991 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Surviving are his wife, Shelia Harry Smith; one son, Larry Smith Jr. of the home; one daughter, Angela Harry of the home; five sis- ters, Betty Ross of Bridgeport, Conn., Annie Love of Gastonia and Joann Holland, Iris Smith and ‘Mary Smith,” all of Kings Mountain. ‘The funeral was conducted June 18, 1991 at 4 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. LINCEY M. HALL SHELBY - Mrs. Lincey Mae Morgan Hall, 94, of Shelby Convalescent Center, died June 18, 1991 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Shelby, she was a homemaker and widow of James M. Hall. She was daughter of the late Green P. and Laura Yarborough Morgan, She was a charter member of First Baptist Church and a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Surviving are two sons, James Morgan Hall of Shelby and Everett Benjamin Hall of Spencer; one daughter, Mary H. Rowe of Prosperity, S. C.; four grandchil- dren, Larry Hall of Hickory, Kathy Brooks of Shelby, Beth Rowe and Donna Rowe of Prosperity, S.C.; one stepgrandchild and three great- grandchildren, The funeral will be conducted June 20, 1991 at 2 p.m, at Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church. A native of LaSalle, Colorado, "he was a former deputy sheriff in Weld County. He served with the USAF in World War II, the Korean Conflict and three tours of duty in Vietnam and retired in June 1969 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Surviving are his wife, Beverly Ann Weber; two sons, Gary Weber of Denver, N.C. and Bryan Weber of Fort Walton Bach, Fla.; one stepson, Danny Crews of Cherryville; one brother, Norman Weber of Fort Morgan, Colorado; one sister, Janet Packer of Denver, Colorado; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted June 20, 1991 at 11 a.m. at Carpenter's Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services and full military honors at City Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Ken Gibson will officiate. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Gloria Curry of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Bertie Stewart and Reba Sims of Kings Mountain and Etta Bennett of Great Falls, S.C.; two grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
