NETTIE LAMB RANDLEMAN- Mrs. Nettie Dicks Lamb, 90, died June 12, 1991 at 10:16 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Hospital in Asheboro. A native of Randleman, she was widow of William Glenn Lamb and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Edward Dicks. She was a member of Randleman First Christian Church and was retired lunchroom manager at Randleman Elementary School after 18 years service. While visiting in Kings Mountain with her daughter, she attended Kings Mountain Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Billie Lamb Stoll of Kings Mountain; five grandchildren, Jimmy Stoll, Ken Stoll, Roger Stoll and Melissa Stoll Bolton, all of Kings Mountain, and Roger Stoll of Shelby; and five great-grand- children. The funeral was conducted June 15 at Randleman First Christian Church. Rev, Frank Barrett and Rev.Winfred Bray officiated. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Park. MYRTLE M. CHILDERS Mrs. Myrtle Mauney Childers, 85, of 128 Wells Road, died June 20, 1991 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary Frances Ann Bess Mauney. She was widow of Samuel Teal Childers and a mem- ber of Dixon Presbyterian Church. She was a retired winder. Surviving are three sons, Ray Childers, Robert Childers and James Childers, all of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Mary Goforth and Annie Mae Berry, both of Kings Mountain; one sister, Viola Seagle of Cherryville; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grand- children. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Dixon Presbyterian Church. Rev. Alan Sinclair officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. REV. FLOYD SEAY YORK, S.C. - Rev. A graduate of Cowpens High School and North Greenville Junior College, he attended East Texas Baptist College and Wake Forest Seminary. After his ordina- tion. he served Oakdale Baptist Church in Cowpens, Reidville Baptist Church, First Broad Baptist Church in Golden Valley, N.C., Glenwood Baptist Church in Bostic, N.C., and Faith Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and the York Baptist Association. He is survived by his wife, Edna Patton Seay of the home; one daughter, Sandy Carle of Fort Knox, Ky.; three sons, David, Timothy and Matthew Seay, all of the home; one sister, Mary Alice Howard of Spartanburg; one half- brother, Clyde Seay of Spartanburg; and three grandchil- dren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at Midway Baptist Church. Members of the church will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church in Spartanburg. The family is at the home on Highway 55, York. LENA SIMMONS Lena Evelyn Simmons, 90, of 507 East Ridge Street, died June 22, 1991 at King Mountain Hospital. A native of Rocky Mount, she was the daughter of the late Lee Howard and Lossie Barnes Simmons. She was raised in Wilmington and at the time of her death she was a resident patient of the Kings Mountain Hospital Extended Care Wing. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Episcopal College in Raleigh and the Virginia Business College, Richmond, Va. She received her degree as a certified public accoun- tant. A Phi Beta Capa student she quickly made her way to the White House where she was secretary to the then Secretary of Defense Cohen. Remaining during the full reign of President Franklin Roosevelt, she served in many of- fices during and after World War I. She returned to Raleigh after the war years and bought her home. She was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Raleigh and was faithful to her family. She is survived by a brother, Charles Simmons of Ormand Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth S. Lynch of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Mary S. Olsen of Ft. Jefferson, N.Y. A graveside service was con- ducted by Dr. Eric Faust Monday at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery. King St., Kings Mountain 28086. JOHNNY BLACK Johnny Eugene Black, 42, 200 Fulton Street, Kings Mountain, died June 22, 1991 at Carolina Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of James William Black of Miami, Fla., and Thelma Harris Parrott of Kings Mountain, and the step-son of James Parrott of Kings Mountain. He was em- ployed as an electrician with Burch Electric of Kings Mountain. Other survivors are a son, Travis Black of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Candida Black of Gaffney, S.C., and Nikki Black of Charlotte; two step-sons, Chris Grayson of Gaffney, S.C. and Roger Grayson of Shelby; two brothers, David Black of Shelby and Mike Black of York, S.C.; two sisters, Joyce Evans of Shelby and Rhonda Lambert of Grover; one step-sister, Wanda Henry of Greenville, S.C; and four grand- children. Champion and daughter of the late Robert Alvie Bradley and Justina Sheppard Champion. She was a retired tex- tile employee. Surviving are two sons, Perry Champion of Kings Mountain and Emest Champion of Madisonville, Ky.; two daughters, Lorene Cain of Jonesboro, Ga. and Evelyn Champion of Gastonia; one sister, Mildred Sheppard of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral was conducted June 21 at 10 a.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. ETHEL P. PETTY Mrs. Ethel Parker Petty, 87, of 803 Cleveland Ave., died June 19, 1991 at home. A native of Cherokee County, S. C., she was widow of Roland Petty and daughter of the late James and Etta Pennington Petty. She was a retired textile employee. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Surviving are one brother, Odell Parker of Shelby; two sisters, Leona Gordon of Orlando, Fla. and Bessie Hayes of Gaffney, S.C. The funeral was conducted June 21 at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Frank Gordon officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. DAVID L. MAUNEY David Lathan Mauney, 65, of 203 E. Gold St., died June 19, 1991 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Kings Mountain, he was co-owner of Mauney Hosiery Mill. He was the son of the late William Kemp and Sarah Hoffman Mauney. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and Kings Mountain Kiwanis Club. She was employed as Business Manager of Shelby Eye Center. She was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church. Other survivors are a son, Mark Bryson of the home; a daughter, Becky Bryson of Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Steve Warren of Mt. Holly.. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Robert Abrams Monday at 3 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. HOYLE BLANKENSHIP SHELBY - Davy Hoyle Blankenship, 54, of 3113 Polkville Road, died June 22, 1991 at his home. A native of McDowell County, he was the son of Belle Walker Blankenship of Dysartville an the late Eliga A. Blankenship, and was a self-employed wholesaler. His wife was the late Elaine Walker Blankenship. He was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines and U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church, Surviving are one son, Marshall Page of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Mary Etten Benton of Shelby; two brothers, Alfred Croft: and Clifford Croft, both of Bessemer City; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted June 22 at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Dick Whitener officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
