While there, Jill was involved in two courses entitled "Quality of Natural Waters" and "Morphology, Sedimentology - Wrighvsville Beach." Each student in the program conducted a research project and presented the results. Jill's project was entitled "A Comparative Study - of the Concentration and Effects of Pollutants at Various Sites on the Cape Fear River." Jill is the daughter of Mike and Darlene Jimison. | Tracy Werner earns degree Tracy June Werner received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications at West Georgia College in Carrollton, Ga. June 16. Attending the graduation cere- monies were her parents, Glenn and June Werner of Newnan, Ga.; her brother, sister-in-law and niece, Mike, Renee and Lori Werner from Dahlonega, Ga. and her grandpar- ents, Mrs. Gerry Werner and Charles and Louise Fisher of Kings Mountain and her uncle Philip Fisher of Morehead City. After the morning graduation ceremonies the Werner guests at- tended an afternoon party hosted by Tracy's parents at their home in Newnan, Ga. Tracy is also the granddaughter of the late W. D. Care grants available Three or four child care scholar- ships will be made available to Kings Mountain High girls who plan to be members of the Teen Support Group at the high school next year. Each scholarship will pay for day care for one child for the 1991-92 school year at a quali- ‘ty Day Care in Kings Mountain. These scholarships are made possi- ble through a Single Parents, Displaced Homemakers and Single Pregnant Women Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Interested girls may pick up ap- plications from Betty Gamble, Vocational Director for Kings Mountain District Schools. Her of- fice is located at 500 West Parker Street. Applications may be ob- tained from Dianne Hollifield at the high school after August 12. All applications must be returned to Dianne Hollifield or Betty Gamble by August 15. School breakfast program adds sites Kings Mountain District Schools Child Nutrition Program is adding two more schools to its breakfast program. Now students in all five elementary schools can enjoy breakfast at school. The school breakfast program is designed to provide a good start to- ward meeting a child's nutritional needs of food energy, protein, vita- mins and minerals. The breakfast Classes at The following classes will begin soon at Cleveland Community College: ENG 217, "The Poetry of Robert Frost," will be offered Sat., Oct. 19 from 9 am.-8 p.m. in the CCC auditorium. Business 235, “The Business of Management,” begins Sept. 7.and ends Nov. 30. Sociology 101, pattern of requirements consists of a serving of milk, a serving of fruit or vegetable or full strength fruit or vegetable juice, two servings of bread or bread alternate or two servings of meat or meat alternate, or one serving of meat/meat alter- nate and one serving of bread or bread alternate. The breakfast program is open to all students. The price is 65 cents Cleveland "Sociological Imagination," also begins Sept. 7 and ends Nov. 30. Both courses contain 26 half- hour programs broadcast on Saturday mornings in two half- hour lessons. Broadcast on PBS, Channels 17, 33, 58, Shelby Cable Channel 35, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for Business of Management and 2:30-3:30 p.m .for Sociological Imagination. Courses will also be rebroadcast on Cable 22 during the week. Washington Street will be blocked off to traffic, and the City of Shelby will provide po- lice for the duration of the dance. No alcohol will be permitted, and any students under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs will be asked to leave. | This is a free event, but food and RC Cola products will be available at a reasonable charge. Students who go to school without breakfast are often from families with moderate to high incomes where parents do not take time or do not have the time to prepare a nutritious breakfast at home. Studies have shown that students who eat breakfast receive nourish- ment required for proper growth, have higher school attendance, be- have better in the classroom, have higher attention spans in class and exhibit improvement in classroom performance. Class Registration Fall Quarter preregistration at Cleveland Community College will be held August 5-8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Student Services. Registration is Tuesday, September 3, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Campus Center Building. Classes will begin September 3 and end November 20. Cleveland offers 31 different pro- grams of study in technical vocational and college transfer/general education on a full-time or part-time basis. CCC has more than 50 transfer agreements with colleges and universities in the Carolinas. In addition, representatives will assist students who wish to trans- fer to other colleges in the nation. Orientation for new students will be held Monday, August 5, 9 am. or 5 p-m., in the college auditorium.
