Sports Briefs Page 8A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, August 15, 1991 Final swim sessions scheduled The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Department has sched- uled some "End of Summer" swim sessions for this weekend. The Deal Street pool closes on Sunday. The final weekend sched- ule will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Moss Lake swim beach will end weckday operations this Friday. Weekend hours will contin- ue August 17-18, August 24-25, August 31, and September 1-2. All swim operations will end on Labor Day. Special Labor Day weekend hours will be 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 1-6 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday. For more information, call the P&R Department at 734-0449. McGinnis wins golf tournament Ashley ‘McGinnis of Kings Mountain won low net and low gross with a six-over-par 78 in the championship flight of the Cramer Mountain Invitational Golf Tournament Friday. Lynne Mauney of Kings Mountain won second low net in the championship flight. Other Kings Mountain golfers competing were Peggy Jackson, Sylvia Neisler, Shirley Austin and Janet Tate. Janet Tate has a hole-in-one Janet Tate of Kings Mountain scored a hole-in-one Saturday on the 17th hole at Kings Mountain Country Club. She used a seven-wood to ace the 144-yard hole. Her foursome included Linda Rome, Elaine Grigg and Doris Cloninger. Golf tournament in Granite Falls The Region 8 North Carolina Recreation and Park Society Building Fund Golf Tournament “Will be held Scptember 6 at Orchard Hill Golf Course in Granite Falls. There will be a shot- gun start at 10 a.m. The tourney will be a four-per- son Captain's Choice format. Entry fee is $40 per person or $160 per team. The fee includes cart and green fees. Checks should be made payable to NCRPS Golf Tournament. Fifty percent of the fee is tax deductible. Prizes will be given for first through fifth places and the top team will qualify for a statewide tournament to be played in he First Charlotte on November 17. Green esleyan Church softball team recently won the State JANET TATE Scores hole-in-one at KMCC fees and cart fees for the Charlotte tourney will be paid by NCRPS. Rec committee to hold meeting The Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Committee will meet Thurs., Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Kings Mountain Community Center. The committee will make a pre- sentation on the recently-adopted fees and charges schedule, and will conduct miscellaneous business. After the presentation, the com- mittee will give the public an op- portunity to ask questions about the new fee policy or any other matter on the agenda.
