A native of Cherokee County, S. C., she was daughter of Ben and Ruthic Moore Black of Patterson Springs. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and was employed as cashicr at The Pantry Store in Shelby. Surviving, in addition to her par- ents, are three sons, Keith Carroll of Kings Mountain, Marvin Carroll of Grover and Ricky Carroll of Shelby; two daughters, Kathy Zuniga of Hendersonville and Debbie Carroll of Shelby; onc stepdaughter, Kathy Ribb of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Marcell Black of Forest City and Paul Black of Shelby; seven sisters, Julia Camp of Fayetteville, Edna Cogdell of Kings Mountain, Louise Lovelace, Brenda Allen, Bonnie Moore, Janie Wilson, all of Grover, and Carolyn Rameres of Florida; and 10 grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Thomas Sanders officiat- ed. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. DORTH GREER FALLS ROCK HILL, S.C. - Dorth Greer Falls, 70, of 1529 Granville Road, died November 3, 1991 at Piedmont Medical Center. Owner and operator of Dorth Falls Auto Service, he was a mem- ber of St. John's United Methodist Church and Barber-Hardin Sunday School Class, the VFW and a vet- eran of World War II. He was a member of York County Amateur Radio Society and Automotive Service Council. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Hood Falls; two sons, Dr. D. Greer Falls Jr. of Augusta, Ga. and William Frederick Falls of Irmo, S. C. and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church. Rev. Needham Williamson and Rev. Ray Hook officiated. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Developmental of Pediatrics, University of S. C. Charles Montgomery Fisher Jr., 73, of Route 6 Shelby Road, died November 2, 1991 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, he was a retired Eastern Airlines em- ployee. He was son of the late Charles M. and Eva Josephine Deen Fisher Sr. and was married to Louise Gamble Fisher, who sur- vives. , He was a member of El Bethel United Methodist Church, the Retired Eastern Airiines Employees Association and was a veteran of World War 11. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, James D. Fisher of Key Largo, Fla. and Phillip G. Fisher of Morchead City; onc daughter, June Werner of Newman, Ga.; one brother, Martin A. Fisher of Miami, Fla.; ; one sister, Geneva FE. Owen of Hendersonville; and 11 grandchildren. A son, Gary Fisher, dicd in 1984. The funeral was conducted Monday at 4 p.m. at Harris Chapel by Rev. Steven Lee. Burial was in El Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to El Bethel United Methodist Church, El Bethel Road, Kings Mountain, 28086. DERRICK CREEL Derrick Dwayne Creel, infant son of Timothy and Janet Lovelace Creel of 104 Morris Street, died October 30, 1991 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Surviving, in addition to the par- ents, are one sister, Andrea Brown of Kings Mountain; the grandpar- ents, Clifford and Faye Lovelace of Kings Mountain and Sam and Frankie Taylor of Marion, S.C. and the great-grandmothers, Mary Carpenter Dover and Eva Mae NcNeely Lovelace, both of Kings Mountain. The graveside service was con- ducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery by Rev. Mitchell Pruitt. TOM L. HAMRICK Tom L. Hamrick, 75, of 450 Patterson Road, died November 3, 1991 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Albert and Amanda Hendrick Hamrick and was married to Margaret Bridges Hamrick, who survives. A retired farmer and officer of Cleveland County A. S. C. S., he was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Thomas Hamrick of Kings Mountain; four daughters, Mrs. Norma Blanton of Shelby, Mrs. Janet Sargent of Waldorf, Md., Mrs. Jean Holden of . Los Alamitos, Calif. and Mrs. Jo Anne Shope of Brevard; two sis- _ ters, Mrs. Grace Wood of Concord and Mrs. Gola Cline of Cherryville; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The memorial service was con- ducted Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Rev. J. J. Thornburg, Rev. Richard Plyler and Rev. Jeff Brendle offici- ated. The family received after the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the ministry of the donor's choice. BESS W. Box 490, New Bern, N.C. 28560. SARA M. PARKER SHELBY - Sara M. Parker, of 1091 Providence Road, died November 5 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Shelby, she was daughter of Odell E. Parker of Shelby and the late Pollie Masters Parker. She was retired from the City of Gastonia and K-Mart of Gastonia. She attended No. 3 High School, Howard Business School and Gaston College. She was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church in Gastonia. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sonali J. Davis of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Carol Coates of Gastonia; one brother, J. Harold Parker of Shelby; one sister, Mrs. Maudia Queen of Shelby; four grandchildren and one great-grand- child. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lutz-Austell Chapel. Rev. Ned L. Mathews will officiate and burial will be in Parker Family Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 201 West Marion St., Shelby. 28150. Hoyle Mark Bibbs is sworn in as a member of the UNC Board of Governors by Supreme Court Justice Henry Frye. Bibbs made history by becoming the first student member of the Board. Bibbs on UNC Board of Governors A 21-year-old Kings Mountain man made history recently when he was sworn in as the first student member of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors. Mark Bibbs, son of Christine Bibbs of Kings Mountain and the late Lenzie Bibbs, took the oath from Supreme Court Justice Henry Frye as his proud family stood by. Reared in the Ebenezer Community of Kings Mountain, Bibbs is a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was presi- dent of the Missionary Youth Department, was active in the 3rd District Missionary Department and was third vice president of the State Home and Foreign Youth Missionary Department. He is a 1988 graduate of Bessemer City High School. A senior at UNC at Chapel Hill, Bibbs continued the zeal for poli- tics he began as president of Bessemer City High Student Government. He sits on the Board as president of the university-wide Association of Student Governments. For two years, he has worked for Rep. Dan Blue, speaker of the state house. As a member of the Board, Bibbs will help make the policies for the state university system that comprises 16 colleges. the resale of textbooks for student scholarships.
