Business notes anniversary All American Fabrics at 636 South Lafayette Street is celebrat- ing twenty years of business in Shelby with a totally new building exterior. Wilford Morris, owner of All American Fabrics, expressed his appreciation to James Waters and Steve Costner, owners of the building, for changing the appear- ance of South Lafayette Street. All American Fabrics opened for business in December 1971 under the direction of Wilford and Opal Morris. The name for the new busi- ness was chosen because Shelby had become and "All American City" that year. The business has shown steady growth since its in- ception. It has changed from the early "close-outs, mill ends, sec- onds" kind of business, to now having over 30,000 yards from top design upholstery fabric manufac- turers. Mr. Morris said it was still the aim of the store to provide the customer with the best prices and best selections anywhere. They still have the "choice" bargain fabrics. The customer furniture sales was added ‘about ten years ago with a customessirequest for. a wing chair. The furniture enhances fabric sales and allows the customer an oppor- tunity to create their own choice from the many basic styles of sofas and chairs offered. Much of the success of the store is due to the All American family of sales associates. Ann McCraw has been with the company for nineteen years. Garland Morris, Mary Ann Davis, and Beverly Greene came soon after. In 1989, David and Pam Roof joined the company with David as General Manager. The store recently be- came a part of the Shelby High School students workers program with the hiring of Scott Hutchinson as a student worker. The common sense decorating skills acquired over the years, along with the knowledge of fabric construction and content, enables these experienced personnel to of- fer candid and practical decorating advice. This friendly and helpful attitude has made All American Fabrics not only an asset to the Shelby business community, but a magnet drawing customers from adjoining cities and states. It is a little known fact that All American Fabrics ships a large portion of its total sales to out of state wholesale dealers for resale. To celebrate this 20th Anniversary, All American Fabrics is giving away a wing chair and twenty $20.00 gift certificates. Go to the store at 636 South Lafayette Street and register. The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. on january 3, 1992. Employees of All American Fabrics * OPERATION 20,000 x INVENTORY REDUCTION SALE! WE MUST REDUCE .
