ce tm HE i A) / ROBIN MELISSA LINGERFELDT MICHAEL ANDREW MOWER Lingerfeldt-Mower Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Lingerfeldt of Kings Mountain announce the en- gagement of their daughter, Robin Melissa, to Michael Andrew Mower of Asheville, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Metcalf of Mill Spring and the late Raymond Mower of Craig, Colorado. The bride-elect, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bridges of Kings Mountain and the late Leona L. Martin, is a graduate of Bessemer City High School and Central Piedmont Community College, where she earned an associate degree in physical therapy. She attends Asheville- Buncombe Technical College in Asheville and is employed by Thomas Rehabilitation Hospital as a licensed physical therapist assistant. She plans to enter physical therapy school in the fall. She was presented at the 1988 Shelby Junior Charity League Debutante Ball. At BCHS, she was a N. C. Academic All American Scholar, a cheerleader, in "Who's Who,' and active in Junior Heart Board, Student Council, Monogram Club and Junior Civitan Club. Mower is the grandson of Ina Jackson and the late Andy Jackson of Craig, Colorado and Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Metcalf of Mill Spring and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Scott of Craig, Colorado. An honor graduate of Polk Central High, where he was president of the student body, he is a summa cum laude graduate of Western Carolina University with bachelor's de- gree in marketing and management. As WCU he was president of Sigma Phi Epsilon and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma and Order of Omega. He was coordinator of International Day at WCU in the spring of 1991. United Way of Cleveland County is asking local people to assist Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation in helping a child's wish come true. Seven-year-old Craig Shergold has an inoperative brain tumor. He collects business cards and wants to be included in the Guiness Book of World Records for having the largest amount of cards. EB The Cleveland County Arts Council and Gardner-Webb Theatre have teamed up to bring Roadside Theater to Dover Theatre on the college campus in Boiling Springs. The one-night perfor- mance of "Pretty Polly" will be February 21 at 8 p.m. Roadside Theater's production puts together tall tales, family re- membrances and traditional Appalachian songs, accompanied by guitar and banjo, tell the story of Appalachian storyteller Polly Branham Johnson. BM Margaret Ratterree will present the program on "Americanism" at Thursday night's meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Building. Chelsie Hannah was named after her late great-grandmother Chelsie Hawkins of Kings Mountain. Mrs. Maher is the former Beth Hawkins. A handmade quilt,in the "Lone Star" pattern, was presented to the couple. The quilt was made by Webster's late grandmother, Mrs. Frank C. Ware, in March 1982 before her death in August 1982. Mrs. Ware quilted wedding presents for all her grandchildren.
