! : Page 12A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, March 26, 1992 Head Start recruiting children Cleveland County Head Start is in process of recruiting children for the 1992-93 school year. Families in Cleveland County who have children four years of age, or who will be four by October 16 this year, and have low to moderate incomes, regardless of race, sex, religion, national origin, or handicapping conditions, are qualified to apply. Ten Head Start Centers are oper- ated in the county, including Centers at Bethware, Grover and North Elementary Schools. A new classroom will be opened next year and parents are asked to express their choice of Elizabeth, Boiling Springs, Casar, James Love or Washington Schools for the site. Applications may be picked up from any of the school sites or from the Head Start Office at Kings Mountain District Schools. Justin Wright earns Eagle rank Justin Wright, 18, senior at Bessemer City High School, re- ceived the coveted Eagle rank, highest award in Boy Scouting, at 11 a.m. services March 8 at Bessemer City's Sunnyside Baptist “Church. Wright is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Flavio Sabucco of Bessemer City and the late Ralph Wright and grandson of Mrs. Ethel Guffey and the late Fred Guffey and Mrs. Margaret Wright and the late Ira Wright, all of Bessemer City. Wright's brother, Steven Wright, sang "Wind Beneath My Wings," as a highlight of the service. Their stepbrother, Gino Sabucco, and other family members also attend- ed the worship service officiated by Rev. Carroll Brackett, pastor, and Scoutmaster Derrill Smith. Janet Sabucco pinned the Eagle on her son. Wright is a-member of Boy Scout Troop 17 of Kings Mountain, sponsored by Long Creek Presbyterian Church. He has School Lunch Menus JUSTIN WRIGHT been active in Boy Scouts since December 1, 1984, advancing up the ranks. He is a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church. Wright has been accepted for the pre-medicine program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kings Mountain Schools lunch - menus for April: April 1 - Macaroni and cheese with ham, green beans, fried okra, biscuit, choice of fruit. April 2 - Spaghetti with meat ‘sauce, tossed salad, buttered corn, choice of fruit, bread sticks. April 3 - Hot dog with chili and bun, cole slaw, French fries, fruit cobbler. April 6 - Ham and cheese sand- wich, carrot/cabbage slaw, baked beans, fresh apple. April 7 - Fried chicken, steamed rice, green beans, green peas, choice of fruit, hot rolls or corn- bread. April 8 - Spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad, buttered corn, hot rolls or cornbread, fruit. April 9 - Baked ham, candied Church Briefs The kick-off for the Rick Gage Crusade will be an organizational meeting Monday night at 7 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Everyone who is a committee member should at- tend. A breakfast will be held spon- sored by the senior adults of Macedonia Baptist Church, 1101 Battleground Ave., on Saturday from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Cost is $3 per plate or free for children under five. Parkwood Baptist Church of Gastonia will host a singing on Sunday. The Southerners will be featured. Parkwood is located at 1729 East Garrison Blvd. For fur- ther information, contact 864-3681. Piedmont Baptist Church, 101 Benfield Rd., will hold a Sunday Singing this Sunday at 7 p.m. The Thessalonian's from Shelby will be featured. Refreshments will follow. The Wednesday noon worship and luncheons continues April 1 and April 8. Each service begins at 12:05 and the luncheon begins at 12:25 p.m. Men and women who are on lunch hour from work are invited to the front of the luncheon line. A $2 donation is suggested. On April 1, the services will be at First Baptist Church hosted by Dr. Chip Sloan. The theme of the service and the message, "I Am the Resurrection” will be brought by Rev. Steve Lee, minister of El Bethel United Methodist Church. Resurrection Lutheran Church on Crescent Hill will be the setting for the April 8 lenten service. Pastor Futterer will begin the wor- ship and litany preparing the wor- shippers for the sermon of the Rev. Billy Barron, minister of Boyce Memorial ARP Church. This will - be the final Wednesday in Kings Mountain's Lenten series. Rev. Barron's sermon will focus on Jesus' declaration, "I Am the Good Shepherd" and our Christian quali- ty of understanding. On receiving: the ISO 9001 cer- tification, William Johnson, General Manager of the Kings Mountain facility, said "We arc honored to have achieved the glob- ally-recognized quality standard.
