INO. 17 WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 1992 REPUBLIC NEWSPAPERS Some see and believe By RENEE WALSER Speaking of Christ's life, crucifixion and resur- rection, Kevin Moran said, "It makes you really shiver to think that God would go to this much trouble for us." Moran of Belmont has been researching the fa- mous Shroud of Turin for 12 years. He's convinced of its authenticity and makes a hobby of trying to convince others. April 4th he pre- sented his evidence to about 30 at the Church of God in Kings Mountain. Moran told the story of a Saviour who was tortured so severely that his death and crucifixion could not be shown on television today. He pointed out marks, over 120, on a large poster of the burial cloth of Jesus where he was scourged on his back and where the lance pierced his side from front to back, all the way through. The figure on the cloth shows a front and back of a six-foot tall man. Some, even Christians through the years, have said the im- age was painted on the ma- terial. But Moran said the image was created by Christ's resurrection - some type of light and radiation. Moran is backed up by physicists who have studied the shroud. "The easiest way to ex- plain this image is a burst of light," said Moran. Moran said it was sci- entists and aetheists who first called attention to the image and began studying the shroud. It is the scientists who tell us that we are directly related to this man - 60 generations away from him. They have even typed his blood - AB. And scientists say that no painter in history has ever worked in the fashion of which the image was created. Furthermore, painters would not have used a cloth such as the Kevin Moran points out marks on a picture of the Shroud where Christ was beaten. shroud. "When we think that modern scientists are ex- posing the details of the resurrection, it's really an exciting thing," said Moran.
