a. —————— —~ Church News Young at Heart BBQ The Young at Heart group of First Wesleyan Church, Piedmont Ave, Kings Mountain, will spon- sor a barbecue May 1 from 9 am. to 9 p.m. Delivery with 10 or more plates. Conference The SEJ Conference on Christian Mission will again be offered this year, June 29-July 3 at Lake Junaluska. This conference covers all aspects of United Methodist involvement in mission. During this five- day conference, partici- pants can receive training from the local church level up through the conference level. This year's platform speaker, Dr. Reginal Mallett, will speak each day on Motivating for Mission. And in addition to a daily Bible study led by Dr. R. Dick Johns, partici- pants will have the oppor- tunity to visit with folks serving in the mission field. The WNCC has agreed to pay the lion's share of the cost for up to four people from each district. Please contact Melanie Pratt from First United Methodist Church in Mt. Holly at 545- 3281 for details. Revival A revival at New Life Baptist Church, 201 Oak Trail, Mt. Holly, will be held beginning April 26 at 11 a.m. and nightly at 7:15 p.m. through April 30. Rev. Jerry Pennington of Alexander Memorial Baptist Church is the guest speaker. Homecoming Homecoming Day for First United Methodist Church in Belmont is scheduled for May 3. Members, former members and friends, former pastors and their families are invit- ed to join the day's activi- ties. James M. Armstrong Jr. will be the guest preach- er. He is a Belmont native and grew up in the church, joining as a member on May 12, 1940. He is a Pfeiffer College graduate and received his B.D. de- gree at Duke University in 1957. He is now retired and lives in Hickory. A covered dish lun- cheon will follow the morn- ing service. Bring picture albums and memorabilia to share. An outdoor olympics afternoon is planned for lat- er in the summer, Festival The Mount Holly Spring Festival committee needs singing groups to perform. Gospel Sing is Thursday, April 30. Talent Show First Baptist Church of Belmont will hold a Star Search talent show on May 7 in the fellowship hall at 7 p.m. sponsored by the Music, Ministry. Golf tourney The United Methodist Men of Trinity UMC in Gastonia invite the men of the Gastonia District to participate in the Fourth Annual J.C. Barnes Memorial Golf Tournament, Saturday, May 9, at Crowder's Mountain Country Club. The tournament format will be four-man-team, handicapped, captain's choice. Each church in the district is encouraged to sponsor a team.
