He was bound over for trial in Superior Court for first degree murder in the slaying of his wife, according to Det. Lt. Richard Reynolds, investigating officer; masini as ARRESTS Daniel Williams, 31, Route 1, Ray Rd., DWI, driving while li- cense revoked, improper registra- tion, and giving false information to an officer, $500 bond, secured. Charles Anthony Brown, 26, 400 W. Parker St., larceny, $200 bond, secured. Jessie Price Curry, 38, 19 Pine Manor, expired registration, no in- surance, and fictitious license plate, citations. Leonard Sireco Logan, 18, 102 Greer St., Grover, two counts car- rying concealed weapon, $300 bond, unsecured. Police answered a fight call to No. 57 Pine Manor and arrested Logan after removing two handguns from the console of his car. Sandra Lamberth Shires, 31, Route 1, Iron Station, one felony count DWI, driving left of center, driving while license revoked, and simple possession of marijuana. Police stopped Shires in a 1972 Chevrolet and found a controlled substance in an unmarked plastic container. Cynthia Diane Smith, 35, 126 Shelby Rd., drunk and disruptive, held in county jail until sober. Kelly Vernon Ross, 21, 428 Oak Grove Road, careless and reckless driving on King at City Streets, ci- tations. Sonya Decarlo Adams, 18, 85 Pine Manor, drunk and disruptive, $200 bond unsecured. Police an- swered a fight call at Pine Manor and arrested the suspect who was held in county jail until sober. Frankie Jean Adams, 43, of 83 ° Pine Manor, delay and obstruct of- ficers responding to a fight call at Pine Manor Apartments. Walter Humphries, 39, 710 Harmon Rd., assault with deadly weapon, $500 bond unsecured and held in county. jail: 24 hours. before. release. * Otha Grant Campbell, 60, 903 First St., assault on female, $300 bond. Philip Lamar Blanton, 30, 1821 Alpine Drive, disorderly conduct, $100 bond secured, jailed in Gaston County jail after police re- sponded to a fight call. Lewis Ward Martin, 828 Church St., Blanton, - and Jeff Fralick, 2003 Redwood Circle, told officers they were walking through the yard at 1803 Alpine Drive when they were jumped. Police said the victims were drinking. They were taken to the KM Hospital by EMS and treated for injuries. Investigating officers were Sgt. K. M. Simpson, Ptl. Don Martin, and Ptl. David Crowe. James Cox, 22, 902 First St., misdemeanor count assault on fe- male, $300 bond, unsecured. The victim told officers she was struck for "coming in late" and she sprayed Cox with Mace. He was treated at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and released. John Berry Scruggs, 32, Ellenboro, DWI and miscellaneous possession of marijuana. Police said they stopped the driver of a 1969 VW after he accelerated at a high rate of speed on Sherwood Lane. A 16-year-old male was charged with damage to city property and assault on police officer. Ptl. L.L. Capps and Ptl. B. E. Melvin re- sponded to a domestic call on Cherry Street and broke up a fight in the front yard. The juvenile re- portedly assaulted Capps and dam- aged a city police car $300 by kicking the right rear door with his feet. Police cited four drivers for speeding, two for stop light viola- tions and one for seat belt violation during the-weekend.-~ Dawn Michelle Smith, 20, 1510 N. Cansler St., criminal summons, worthless check, trial date April 30 in Cleveland District Court. Robert Kevin Ryan, 25, of 140 Blevins Drive, Shelby, citation for trespassing at Moss Lake and fish- ing in a posted 'no fishing’ area be- hind the dam. ~~ David Eric Bruce, 21, of 508 Red Hill lane, Landrum, SC, consuming alcohol on city property while drinking beer at Moss Lake. Harold Mitchell Bruce, 25, Route 1, Rutherfordton, consuming alcohol on city property while drinking beer at Moss Lake. Thomas Reginald Bell, 28, Route 1 Gastonia, DWI, driving while li- cense revoked, giving false infor- mation to police, and operating ve- hicle at high rate of speed on Cleveland Avenue. Officers pur- sued a car traveling on Highway East toward Gastonia and stopped the suspect. He was jailed for 10 days for contempt of court by Magistrate Funderburke. $500 bond was secured. Henry Manning, 45, 504 N. Watterson St., was arrested twice during the weekend for drunk and disorderly. He was taken to Cleveland County jail at 8:49 p.m. Saturday and held for four hours until sober. He was arrested at 1:09 a.m. Sunday after he was found di- recting traffic at King and Railroad Avenue. Leonard Tarbush, General Delivery, drunk and disruptive at King and Railroad Avenue. He was held in county jail until sober. A 17-year-old man was charged with DWI and no operator's li- cense. His $300 bond was unse- cured. Reitzell Terrell Byers, 26, of Charleston,S.C., obstructing and delay police officers at 125 Ark Street where callers reported hear- ing shots fired. Magistrate Funderburke charged him with contempt of court while he was be- ing booked at the county court- house. His $300 bond was secured. He was ordered held in jail for pos- itive identification. John Charles James, 24, 803 Stoney Point Road, drunk and dis- ruptive, held in jail until sober. INCIDENTS Police are warning residents about callers trying to rip-off resi- dents by telling them they are the winners of new Cadillacs. A resi- dent of Moss Lake reported to Sgt. James Camp that a caller had iden- tified her as the winner of a Cadillac but the caller required shipping charges and asked for a credit card number to guarantee the cost of shipping. Robert Hutchinson reported larceny of three tires and rims {rom his vehicle parked at Spectrum Yarns. Teresa Falls, 603 Mica St., re- ported damage to her car parked at her residence. Jimmy Rowland, 19 West Gate, reported a break-in. Reported stolen were a VCR and damage to a glass end table totaling $425. Family Dollar Store, E. King St., reported that a white male and white female came into the store and stocked their medicine cabinet without paying for the $310.65 items. Missing from the store were an assortment of Goody powders, Tylenol, cold medicines, razors, eye drops, Advil, six bottles of Oil of Olay and 11 stick deodorants. Jeff Landry, 2508 Wilmont Drive, Gastonia, reported theft of a $150 man's gold wedding ring from his 1989 Ford Bronco parked at Shockley's Gulf Station on I-85 and Dixon Road. Sarah Gtiffin, 4414 Farmbrook Dr., Gastonia, reported that the left front door of her 1991 Chevrolet was damaged $400 by a hit and run driver in the parking lot of The Herald at King Street and Canterbury Road. Willette Crocker Alexander, 306 Circle, reported theft of a VCR from her residence. Police advised warrants. \. Lloyd Brown, 14 West Gate, re- ported that subjects cut one of his tires on his 1974 Buick parked at . 604 King Street. The Pantry, 301 Phifer Road, re- ported two incidents of larceny of beer and cigarettes totaling $44.75. KM Express Store, King Street, reported two incidents of larceny of gasoline totaling $10. Phillips 66, 600 E. King St., re- ported larceny of $10.33 worth of gasoline. KM Public Works, 1013 Piedmont Ave., reported that four insulated front windows were bro- ken out by vandals shooting BB guns. Calvary Baptist Church, 802 Reported stolen were a $329 lawn- mower, a $490 air conditioner, and damage to the windows $125. An anonymous tip by a citizen led police to a bag containing a white powder substance officers identified as cocaine. Det. Sgt. Billy Benton said the substance weighed 24.92 grams. The street value of the drug is $1800. Police recovered over $900 in rings reported missing by a 12- year-old girl at Kings Mountain Natatorium. The student said she left the rings in the locker room and returned to find them missing. Lloyd Wayne Turner, 1727 Shelby Rd., reported that his 1988 Toyota was damaged $500 while - parked at KM High School. Christina Hawkenson, 22 Bennett Drive, reported that her 1982 Honda was damaged $120. WRECKS APRIL 14 Pil. C.H. Bundrick said a 1987 Dodge operated by Kenneth Kitzmiller, 813 W. Gold St., struck a parked 1978 Dodge owned by Lee Ann Smith, 813 W. Gold St., doing a total of $500 damage. Kitzmiller was backing from his residence. APRIL 15 A 1981 Chevrolet operated by Joseph Thompson, 2003 Redwood Circle, pulled in front of a 1982 Datsun on Linwood Road operated by Mary Herndon Etters, 1000 Linwood Road, doing a total of $500 damage. Sgt. Derek Johnson investigated. APRIL 18 Ptl. Donald Martin said a 1987 Ford backing from a parking space at KM Plaza collided with a 1988 Ford operated by Phyllis Gordon Chambers, 1641 Lincoln Drive, Shelby. The Chambers vehicle was damaged $10. Martin said Lois Morris, of Branchwood Circle, a passenger in the Chambers vehicle, complained of injuries. Ptl. Maurice Jamerson cited Pamela Bollinger ingram, 2700 Parkdale Circle, with safe move- ment violation and Karen Marie Cartee, of Grover, with following too closely after a three-car wreck on S. Battleground Avenue at a parking space in front of McGinnis Department Store. The Ingram 1988 Honda was not damaged. The Cartee 1984 Toyota was damaged $400 and Linda Cartee sustained injuries. The third car, a 1984 Chevrolet operated by Baron Wallace Stroupe, 211 Phifer Circle, was not damaged.
