Fire Chief Frank Burns said the city hall and police department had emergency back up generators for lights but the big problem with the phone system was caused by jammed lines. "When people call it the lines are tied up," he said. Firemen ran drop cords from emergency generator at city the council meeting room when the lights went out during the candi- date forum sponsored by Cleveland County mayors. FORMAT From Page 1-A Mrs. Spangler said after the meet- ing that the minister objected to county commissioners approving franchises for garbage collectors. After Spangler responded to Rudisill, the minister said that he had not answered the question. "You don't believe in the flag if you answer in that manner," he charged. Spangler said the government must set controls. He talked with the minister after the meeting to try to resolve the matter. Alluding to "dirty politicians," Rudisill said individual property rights can still be protected if gov- ernment stays out of private busi- ness. : "Do You Have @sthma or Emphysema? fire You Using Inhalers? During the nine months Carolina State Bank was in business in 1991, the growth in loans, deposits and assets exceeded our expectations reaching $12 million, $19.6 million and $25.6 million, respectively. We were able to ‘achieve this growth in a very slow and uncertain economy. We were pleased the State Banking Commission allowed Carolina State Bank to open the Kings Mountain and Shelby offices at the same time. Usually, a bank must prove itself for at least one to two years before a second location is approved. The opportunity to purchase the deposits and building of the Forest City Office of Southeastern Savings Bank from the RTC was a bonus for 1991. Rutherford County is a good banking market and the $8 million in deposits acquired gave the Bank a needed funding source for loans. We are committed to making Carolina State Bank the best bank a bank can be. We challenge you to put us to the test. We know you will be pleased with the level of service you will receive. Again, thanks to each of you who have supported us. Carolina State BANK New Friends With New Ideas. 116 W. Main Street, Forest City, NC 28043, (704) 248-4444 114 E.
