Page 2A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, May 14, 1992 Obituaries LOUISE GOODSON Zettie Louise Phillips Goodson, 717, of 203 S. Deal St., died May 9, 1992 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was widow of Rev. Clyde R. Goodson and a homemaker. She was daughter of the late James and Julia Smith Phillips. She was a member of East Gold Street Wesleyan Church and the Ladies Friendship Bible Class. Surviving are two sons, Bob Goodson of Kings Mountain and Charles Goodson of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one daughter, Brenda Biddix of Kings Mountain; one brother, Rev. J. W. Phillips of High Point; two sisters, Mary Lee Norris of High Point and Lottie Perryman of Belmont; and eight grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at East Gold Street Wesleyan Church. Rev. Harold Bumby and Rev. George Simmons officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the building fund of East Gold Street Wesleyan Church, 701 E. Gold St., Kings Mountain, 28086. GEORGE O. BLALOCK George O. Blalock, 76, of 200 N. Goforth St., died May 13, 1992 at 8:56 a.m. at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was married to Louise Falls Blalock, who survives. He was son of the late Lawson Goforth and Fairy Whisnant Blalock. A retired grocer, he was a World War II vet- eran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two brothers, Charlie Blalock and Frank Blalock, both of Kings Mountain; and one sister, Louise Kale of Kings Mountain. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church. Rev. Bob Little will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home. J.F. SIPE GREENWOOD - Junice Floyd Sipe, 83, of 2834 Highway 25 North, died May 6, 1992 at Self Memorial Hospital. A native of Cherryville, he was son of the late C.C. and Kathryn Smith Sipe. He was husband of Lueveney Kizer Sipe, who sur- Vives. Sipe was a graduate of Mississippi State College and was retired from Harris Plant of Greenwood Mills. He was a former baseball pitcher with Mathews Mill and was a member of Harris Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Douglas Sipe of Hodges and Charles Sipe of Greenwood; one sister, Mrs. Eva Cates of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren; and one great- grandson. The funeral was conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Harley Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Frank Thomas officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pallbearers were Steve Kizer, Keith Kizer, Phil Higdon, David Cooper, Eddie Strother, and Harold Biumi. Honorary escorts were members of the Men's Sunday School Class of Harris Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Harris Baptist Church building fund. ABEL STARNES BLACKSBURG, SC - Abel Starnes, 98, formerly of 2130 Dulin Road, died May 9, 1992 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. A native of Cherokee County, he was county road commissioner for Hopewell District in the late 1930's. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was twice married: to the late Minnie Kiser Starnes and to Ola Mae Starnes, who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Dorothy R. Porter ‘of Richmond, Va.; seven grandchil- dren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church. Rev. M. P. Hampton, Rev. Keith Whitener, and Rev. David Rowe officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were W. C. Davis, Jack Davis, James Hughey, Edward Davis, Thomas Davis, and Dean Bell.
