Shriners golf tourney
May 30 at KM Club
The first annual White Plains
Shrine Club Golf Tournament will
be played May 30 at Kings
Mountain Country Club.
The Shriners are hoping that 200
area golfers will participate to raisc
money for crippled and burned
children.
The tournament format is a four-
person team, captain's choice. Men
and women are invited to partici-
pate. Entry fee is $35 per person
and includes green fees and cart.
Plaques will be presented to the
top three teams and there will be
plenty of prizes for long drive and
closest to the pin contests.
Lunch will be provided after the
tournament.
For the convenience of golfers
who work on Saturday, there will
be an 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. tee-off
time.

EB Aerobics - Monday, Wednesday
and Friday, 8:40-9:40 a.m.; Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, 9:45-10:45
a.m.; Monday, Wednesday and
Thursday, 5:30-6:30 p.m.; Monday-
Thursday, 6:30-7:30 p.m. The fee is
$10 for inside city residents and $15
for outside city residents. Register be-
tween the first and fifth of each month.
B Water aerobics - Monday,
Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m.-12
noon, Neisler Natatorium. The fee is
$10 for senior citizens, $15 for inside
city residents and $22.50 for outside
city residents.
BH Youth and adult tennis - A new
program of group tennis instruction
will begin soon at Deal Street Park.
The two-week lessons will cost $18 for
youth and $23 for adults.
B Swimming lessons - Swim
lessons for ages 1-12 years will be held
June 15:26, July 6-17 and July. 27-
August 7. There is a fee. Deal Street
pool will open June 6.
B Oil painting class - An oil paint-
ing class is held the third Saturday of
each month. The fee is $30.
BH Moss Lake swim beach - The
swim beach at Moss Lake will open
Saturday, May 23 from 12 noon-6
p-m., and on Sunday, May 24, from 1-6
p.m. The weekend schedule will re-
main in effect until June 2.
BM Baseball camp - Registration is
underway for the third annual baseball
camp for ages 8-17. It will be held
June 15-19 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Bag
lunches are required. There is a $25
registration fee and cost for the camp is
$75. The deposit is refundable until a
week before the camp. Cost includes
instruction, insurance and a camp shirt.
Bl Water aerob ics - Registration is
being taken for an evening water aero-
bics class to be held on Tuesday nights.
Registration forms must be completed
and fees paid before attending class.
B Teen aerobics - An aerobics class
for ages 12-15 is held each Wednesday
at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per month for
inside city residents and $7.50 for out-
side city residents.
HB Preschool tumbling - A tumbling
class for ages 3-6 is held each Monday,
Wednesday and Friday from 8:45-9:45
a.m. The fee is $10 for inside city resi-
dents and $15 for outside city resi-
dents.

Kappa Delta Pi

Dover of Kings Mountain recently
became members of the
Appalachian State University chap-
ter of Kappa Delta Pi National
Honor Society in Education.
Dover is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jerry Dover and Ware is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Ware. Both are juniors. Ware is
majoring in Middle Grades
Education and Dover is majoring
in Business Education.
Kappa Delta Pi was founded at
ASU as the Lambda Iota Chapter
in December 1967. Kappa Delta Pi
focuses on leadership, education,
service to the local community, and
provides an environment where
collegiate and alumnae members
continue to grow to meet the chal-
lenges of today.
Playground program set
Kings Mountain Parks and
Recreation Department has an-
nounced a new program called
"Playground Pals."
It will be held on Tuesday and
Thursday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at
the Community Center. It will be a
time of fun, education and enjoy-
ment. There will be games and

Rednecks
win title
The Rednecks won three of five
games from the Spades to win the
championship in the Thursday
Night Mixed Duckpin Bowling
League Thursday at Dilling
Heating.
The Spades had won the first
half title and the Rednecks won the
second half.
The Spades, led by Allen Myers
with a 125, won the first game but
Tommy Barrett rolled a 144 in the
second game, and Sally Grant
bowled a 131 in the third game as
the Rednecks to a 2-1 lead. Myers
came back with a 128 in the fourth
game to tie the series, but Barrett's
126 led the Rednecks to victory in
the fifth and deciding game.
Tommy Barrett finished with a
five-game series of 592 to lead the
Rednecks. Jack Barrett added a
550 and Grant bowled a 536.
Myers led the Spades with a 625,
which included a high game of
149.
