It also allows for 211 vocation- al months of employment at a cost of $795,174. State funds include $46,322 for staff development, equipment, materials and a clerical position, and $43,493 from federal sources to use for staff develop- ment, equipment, materials and tar- geted programs, The requested budgeted local funds total $32,000. State and fed- eral funds total $1,134,505 with a sum of $1,166,505 for local, state and federal. Upon questioning from board member the Rev. They had two children, Jerry Wilson of Kings Mountain, who played football at Kings Mountain High School under Coach Shu Carlton, and Carolyn Wilson Tucker of Washington; two foster children, Steve and Betty Ingle of Kings Mountain; nine ‘grandchildren and one great-grand- .child, four year old Miranda Wilson. Carl was one of the first mem- bers of the Kings Mountain Housing Authority and served as chairman for many years on ap- pointment of Mayor John Moss. "Back when I became a member of the Housing Board 30 years ago there was no public housing and we had a real challenge before us," said Wilson, also recalling that his house was only the second house built in the now-expanded Linwood Section of East Kings Mountain. He is a charter member of the Kings Mountain AARP Chapter. A life-long Democrat, Carl votes the straight ticket and his proud of it. Although he never aspired to run for city office, he ran unsuccessful- ly for a seat on the county board of commissioners some years ago. "I don't even remember when that was but my friend John Moss en- couraged me. That was my first and last venture into politics." Carl is a past commander of American Legion Post 155 and a past district commander. He is a graduate of Ashley High School in Gastonia. He has two living sisters: Mrs. Edith Lovell of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Irene Collins of Gastonia. Wilson worked in many areas of the country before settling down in Kings Mountain. "I'm glad my roots are here," he says. One of his grandsons, Reid Wilson, wants to go into the mission field and Wilson is encouraging him to fol- low his goal.
