Mr. and Mrs. John William Morgan of Pacolet. SC announce the en-
gagement of their daughter, Ann Carol, to Edward Don Short II, son of
Nancy E. Short of Kings Mountain and the late Edward "Bud" Short.
Miss Morgan is a graduate of Getty's D. Broome High School and at-
tended the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg and Spartanburg
Technical College. She is employed at Stouffer's Frozen Foods.
Short is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High School and is also
employed at Stouffer's Frozen Foods. He is co-owner of Plum Creek
Manufactured Home Community and owner of Plum Creek Homes in
Grover, N.C. :
The wedding will take place July 11 at Camp Swofford Chapel on the
campus of Limestone College at Gaffney, SC.

Mrs. Charlene W. Dover of Blacksburg, SC announces the engage-
ment of her daughter, Victoria Lynn Dover of Spartanburg, SC, to
Steven Leonard Boyle of Spartanburg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donn J.
Boyle of Lake Worth, Florida.
The bride-elect, also the daughter of the late Tack C. Dover, graduated
from Blacksburg High School and Mary Black School of Nursing at the
University of South Carolina at Spartanburg. She is a registered nurse in
the Critical Care Unit at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
Boyle graduated from North Andover High School in Massachusetts

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bumgardner announce the engagement of their
daughter, Amy Lynn, to Stevan Newall Robbins, son of Linda and
Johnny Bunch and the late Steve Robbins. Both families are of Kings
Mountain.
Miss Bumgardner is a graduate of Kings Mountain Senior High

engagement of their daughter, Ellinor Catharine, to Craig Andrew
Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
Miss Preston is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marcus
Owens of Kings Mountain and of Dr. and Mrs. John Montgomery
Preston IV of Columbia, SC. Her mother is the former Pat Owens of
Kings Mountain,
A 1987 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, the bride-
elect attended the University of North Texas and received her degree in
Textile Management in 1991 from Clemson University. At Clemson she
was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She is employed in the Special
Events Department of Matthews-Belk at Gastonia.
The bridegroom-to-be is a 1986 graduate of D.W. Daniel High School
in Clemson, SC and received his B.S. in Management in 1990 and his
Master's in Industrial Management in 1991 from Clemson University.
At Clemson, he was a member of the Marching Band, Jazz Band, and
Symphonic Band. He is store manager of Card Bazaar at Eastridge Mall
in Gastonia.
The wedding will be an event of August 8.

Homesleys host reception, party for couple
Parents of Michael Lewis
Homesley hosted the May 23 wed- «
ding reception and the May 22 re-
hearsal party for their son and his
fiancee Rebekah Louise Ayers.

‘of Kings Mountain entertained at
Kings Mountain Country Club at a
rehearsal dinner for 40 guests. On
the wedding day they hosted the el-
egant black and white reception at
Bethany Baptist Church fellowship
"hall.
At the rehearsal dinner a menu
of roast beef, chicken breasts, corn,
green beans, twice baked potatoes,
carrots, salad, homemade rolls, tea,
and coffee was served. A chocolate
groom's cake and peach cobbler
were served for dessert.
Miss Ayers and Mr. Homesley
presented gifts to members of the
wedding party.
For the church reception, the
fellowship hall held white lattice
screens draped with black cloths
as the background for the bridal
portrait and wedding cake. Tables
were accented with red candles and
ivy. The windows of the reception
hall were decorated with candles in
glass brandy snifters accented with
black and white ribbon and lace,
surrounded by magnolia leaves and
blossoms. A beautiful arrangement
of red camations and white mums
centered the refreshment tables on
a heart-shaped table covered with a
black heart-shaped tablecloth.
Silver candelabras with red candles
centered each refreshment table.
Kenny is eight
Kenny Grant, son of John and
Annie Grant of Kings Mountain,
celebrated his 8th birthday May 15
at Chi-Chi's and Putt-Putt Golf.
Guests were Ricky Huskey, Jason
West, Brianna Grant, and Steven
Grant.
Kenny is the grandson of Mavis
and Ken Burns and Nan Jean
Grant, all of Kings Mountain, and
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald E. Grant of
- Massachusetts. He is great-grand-
son of J. B. Burns of Kings
Mountain and Ethel Lincoln of
England.

Seniors plan outing
Senior Citizens are planning a
trip to Calvary Church in Charlotte
as the July 30 outing.
Reservations can be made now
by contacting Carolyn Bell, new
program coordinator at The Depot.
The trip will include a tour of the
church, an organ recital, and lunch
at the church. The cost is $17 and
payable by July 6.
The four-tired wedding cake sur-
rounded by five small cakes was
topped with fresh red carnations
and miniature white mums.
Chicken salad pastries, ham bis-
cuits, cheese wafers, cocktail
wieners, meatballs, vegetables with
dip, fruit with dip, white chocolate
mints, and mixed nuts were served
from silver appointments. Pink
punch with fresh strawberries was
served from a silver punch service.
Bleeka Goforth catered the recep-
tion.
Assisting in serving were Juanita
Cloninger, Anna. Dellinger,
Vaughnda Price, Caroldine Ogden,
and Ginger Ramsey.

to Randy Simmons takes place
June 27 in St. Matthew's Lutheran
Church, was honored at a shower
June 6 at the home of Eleanor
Scharf. Entertaining with Mrs.
Scharf was Mrs. Elizabeth Mauney.
The 30 guests took the occasion
to present the bride-to-be with gifts
for her kitchen. The hostess" gift
was an electric can opener.
