Emily Campbell, Jeff Lackey, Kimberly Hoyle, Chris Bridges, Jenny Summey, Holly Harmon, Brandon Patterson, and Genora Taylor, left to right, stand around a decorated 60's cake which was cut and served for dessert after barbecue and all the trimmings. Sock Hop honors debs A Sock Hop set the theme for a party-dance for 30 of the season's debutantes and their dates at Kings Mountain Depot Center Thursday night, Hosts for the party were parents of Kings Mountain debutantes. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Campbell, Mr, and Mrs. Jerry Hoyle, Mr. and Mrs. Quay Moss, and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor served barbecue with all the trimmings and a debutante cake decorated in the 60's motif. Colorful balloons, 1960-vintage pictures, and saddle oxfords deco- rated the party room and formed a background for dancing to music provided by DJ Kenneth Wilson. A conversation piece was a table which featured baby pictures Christy celebrates third birthday Christy Lynn Whetstine cele- brated her third birthday on June 15. A birthday party for family and friends was held on June 14 and bright colorful balloons set the theme. Christy is the daughter of Wanda and Darrell Whetstine of Kings Mountain. She has a two-weeks- old brother, Chad, and an 18-year- old brother, Brian. Grandparents are Philip and Pat Witherspoon and Joyce and Ed Babb, all of Kings Mountain. ; Great-grandparents are Eva and Plato Goforth and Annis Lee Babb and Eunice Lovelace, all of Kings Mountain. Jordan is two Jordan Michelle Childers, daughter of Tony and Teresa Childers, celebrated her second birthday June 15. A family party was held at her home on June 13. The party theme was 101 Dalmatians. Jordan's 101 Dalmatian cake h was cut and served to family and friends and including Jordan's older sister, Morgan. Jordan is the granddaughter of Jimmy and Pat Childers, Ralph and Linda Shirkey, Bill and Gail Childers, and Terri Johnson Deal. She is the great-granddaughter of Doris Johnson, Neely Keeter Shirkey, and Charles Childers. CHRISTY WHETST E Yeats JORDAN CHILDERS It's a girl for Neislers Charlotte Lynn Neisler was born June 1 ‘at 10:56 p.m. at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She weighed 8 pounds and was 20 and one half inches long. Charlotte is the daughter of Lee Sommers Neisler and Lisa Cash Neisler. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Neisler of Kings Mountain and Dr. and Mrs. William D. Cash of Basking Ridge, NJ. EAST AWARDS -- Mrs. Putnam's and Mrs. Smith's first graders re- ceived awards for the last nine weeks. The Kings Mountain debs who received and greeted guests were Holly Harmon, Kimberly Hoyle, Genora Taylor, Emily Campbell, and Jennifer Summey. The debs received handpainted rocks to be used for paper weights and pencil holder mugs, all deco- rated in the deb party theme and all of which decorated the tables. Local debs and their escorts par- ticipated in a whirl of social activi- ties during the weekend, culminat- ing on Saturday night with the 1992 debutante ball in Vauxhall Center in Shelby. Horse Show set June 27 The Central Piedmont Arabian Horse Association is sponsoring an open horse show on June 27 at Latta Plantation Park, Mecklenburg County, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Forty classes have been lined up beginning with Lead Line for 10 years and under riders and ending with non-trotting pleasure. In be- tween a variety of classes are of- fered including halter, western, English and hunter events, along with equitation and costume. The non-trotting classes are for Paso Fino, walking horses, and racking horses. + The entry fee is $7 per class and stalls are available on a first come basis for $15 each for the day. Ribbons will be awarded through fifth place in each class. Judging the show will be Paul Bone. Show manager is Don Sherman and in- quiries can be directed to 704-788- 2084. Spectator admission is free and concessions will be available. Latta Park is located on Sampel Road which is off Beatties Ford Road northwest of Charlotte. The Central Piedmont Arabian Horse Association is a non-profit organization made up of approxi- mately 150 members across the two Carolinas and Virginia. BM Friends of Mauney Memorial Library will hold the annual meet- ing to elect officers Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at Weir Auditorium at the Library. Vice-President McCarter will preside.
