Thursday, June 25, 1992-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Page-3B Mrs. Huffstetler hosts A Engagement 2 . Se pa Ls Sani cn, PEARSONS ON WEDDING DAY 62 YEARS AGO PEARSONS From Page 2-B road as a teenager. Pearson was reared in Kings Mountain. The Pearsons were honored by their children at an anniversary party June 14 at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jane Black. Co-hosts were Eloise Moss of Kings Mountain, Larry Pearson of Garden City, SC and Renee Black of Gastonia. The family also includes seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A decorated blue, yellow and white anniversary cake was topped with a big heart and served for dessert. Dinner was served buffet style to 40 guests, including his sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Conner, his sister-in-law Glendora Pearson, and Rev. and Mrs. Mitchell Pruitt. Unable to attend were his brother Robert Pearson, and her sister, Mrs. Jake England of Gastonia. Granddaughters Jackie Riley and Ann Johnson prepared and served the meal. Mrs. Pearson wore an off-white two piece suit and a corsage of white carnations. Home for the Pearsons is Fairview Street. They are active in Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Wyona enjoys cooking for her husband and family. Last Christmas she prepared and served dinner to 29 family members. : Her husband, who is affectionately called Papa, grows tomatoes taller than Wyona, five feet four, in his back yard garden Papa Pearson celebrated his 80th birthday last week. On their 62nd aniversary the couple received a poem from Frances - Riley of Blythwood, SC. It was entitled, "Anniversary Recollections." "The dress is yellow with age, the flowers have withered and gone. The organ’s music is hushed and still but the memories linger on. "The pews were filled with many friends and kindred we held dear. The vows that we made at the altar then grow more precious every year. "The flower girl is a woman now, changed by the years of time; but the fragrance from the petals she dropped cast a spell that was almost sublime. "The lace on the edge of the pillow is frayed; the ringbearer lives far away, but the same gold band that you placed on my hand I wear and cherish today. "The crumbs from the cake have disappeared. The rice has been swept form the floor. But our love for each other and the faith we share seem to multiply even more." MCDANIELS From Page 2-B Benning, GA.
