Cherokee Street. The quartet is composed of Brent Hood of Ohio, Steven Kimbrough of Alabama, Jerald Pierce and Paul Vann of Florida; and Gerron Showalter of Nashville, TN. The concert is free and open to the public. Hot dog sale at Macedonia The Senior Citizens Macedonia Baptist Church - sponsor a hot dog sale on Friday, July 10, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Hot dog plates are $2.50 and in- clude two hot dogs, potato chips and dessert. Individual hots dogs are $1. Deliveries will be made on orders that consist of five or more plates or 10 hot dogs. To place or- ders, call 739-6811 Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m or eat in at the fellowship hall. Orders will be prepared before 11 a.m. Proceeds are earmarked for a se- nior adult trip to Pennsylvania. - @ The Holidays from Shelby will be featured during a gospel singing held at Allen Memorial Baptist Church on July 12 at 7 p.m. The address is 1220 Long Branch Grove Road, Kings Mountain. Bl Rodney Bradford, children and youth minister at First Baptist Church in Cherryville, will be speaker for Youth Day on Sunday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Bradford is a recent graduate of Gardner-Webb College and is a na- tive of Travelers Rest, SC. Bradford will fill the pulpit at the 11 a.m. worship hour. The un lic is invited. HB Oak Grove Baptist youth are advertising the upcoming Vacation Bible School as a "fantastic jour- ney.” Bible School starts Monday and continues through June 17 from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the church. The commencement program will be held on Sunday evening, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. Homemade ice cream will be served. Bl A white water rafting trip on the Nantahala River is slated for August 14 by area youth from Oak Grove Baptist Church. A sign-up sheet is in the church office for in- terested youth and adults who want to spend the night in bunk houses at the rafting site and enjoy a day of white water rafting. The outing is limited to 15 males and 15 fe- males. BM Homecoming Day will be ob- served Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Rev. Kenneth Ramseur, pastor of Friday Memorial Baptist Church in Dallas, will fill the pulpit. Dinner will be served after the service. Revival services will begin Monday and continue through Friday night at ‘St. Paul's.: Rev. William Thompson, pastor of AME Zion Methodist St. Peter Church of Grover, will be evangelist. Praise services will begin each evening at 7 p.m. Rev. L. Sellers, pastor, invites the public to attend. BH Wayside Church of the Living God, Long Branch Road, will sponsor a gospel singing Saturday night at 7 p.m. The featured group will be Danny Wilson and "New Vision." Pastor Clifton Morgan invites the public to attend. BM The Sunday School Department of St. Paul's United Methodist Church is sponsoring a one-day bus trip to Pigeon Forge, TN. on Saturday, July 25. Reservations are being taken by Ella R., Starr, 739-3926, and Mary Roberts, 739-2434, until July 24. The tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children. The bus will depart from the church. BM "Together In Jesus’ Name" is the theme of a joint Bible School by four churches to be held July 13-17 from 9 a.m.-noon at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 600 Crescent Circle. Other participat- ing churches are St. Matthew's Lutheran, Central United Methodist, and First Presbyterian. Students will study the Bible and participate in art activities, music, service projects, recreation, and worship. A picnic will close the program’ on Friday followed by | commencement at 12:30. A special feature of the VBS program is the Community Circle All School Center. This learning center offers many opportunities to explore how we have been called together in Jesus' name. to live as His faithful disciples. The five themes are "Belonging to God's Family, Growing in Faith, Forgiving One Another, Thanking the Lord, and Telling the News." Children age 3 through Junior High are invited to participate. LOUISE B. ELGIN Louise Bennett Elgin, 69, of 815 Third St., died July 4, 1992 at home. A native of Kings Mountain, she ~ was widow of Clarence Elgin and daughter of the late Henry Wilson and Bertie Lynn Bennett. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Randle Elgin of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Jean Robinson of Kings . Mountain and Janice Rippy of Clover, SC; three brothers, Luther Bennett, Jack Bennett, and Lawrence Bennett, all of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Larry Burns and Rey. Wayne Worcester officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. HOWARD DOVER CHARLOTTE - Howard G. Dover, 82, of 5228 Adams Drive, died July 1, 1992 at Presbyterian Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, he was a retired letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. He was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Sunday School Class. He taught Sunday School 60 years and served in all capacities of church work. He was a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge 692, ‘Scottish Rite Bodies, Oasis Temple of the Shrine, and formerly owned and operated Dover's Grill at Stonewell and Church Streets. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Dover; two sisters, Mrs. Lamby Wentz and Mrs. Eunice Thomas, both of Charlotte. The funeral was conducted Friday at 3 p.m. at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial was in Sharon Memorial Park. MABEL QUINN YORK, S.C. - Mabel Blanton Quinn, 84, of 603 North Congress St., died July 2, 1992 at Piedmont Medical Center, ‘A native’of Cherokee County, she was the widow of Samuel Boyd Quinn. She was retired su- pervisor at Sullivan-Carson in York and a member of Central Baptist Church. | Surviving are two brothers, Toy Blanton of Grover and Leonard Blanton of York; three sisters, Agnes Pinion of Central and Mary Smart and Sarah Thomasson, both of York. A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the widow of Fred Bowers and daughter of the late Bennett Barnes and Violet Hartman Hillebrand. ROY WADE Roy Wade, 63, of 213 Orr Terrace, died July 3, 1992 at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was formerly employed by the City of Kings Mountain. Surviving are three sons, Leroy Bell of Detroit, Michigan, Douglas Wade of Kings Mountain, and Donald Wade of Salisbury; three "daughters, Ollie W. William of Germany, Ethel W. Adams of Kings Mountain and Anne W., Adams of Bessemer City; three brothers, William Wade and Billy Wade, both of Kings Mountain, and Carl Wade of Bessemer City; four sisters, Lorine Potts and Mary Chisholm, both of Charlotte, and Nancy Bell and Mable Wade, both of Kings Mountain; 12 grandchil- dren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Alonzo Stowe and Rev. C. A. Feemster. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. BM Registration for the second summer session at Cleveland Community College will be held July 15 and 16, 9 am. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Student Services.
