Page 2A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, July 16, 1992 Obituaries RUTH HENDLEY Mrs. Ruth Faw Hendley, 306 Crescent Hill Road, died July 6,1992 in Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of West Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Cicero S. and Beatrice Eller Faw. Formerly of Charlotte, she retired as department manager and buyer for Montaldo's of Charlotte after 38 years. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Surviving are one son, Bob Huntley of Wilmington; one daughter, Mrs. Betty H. Cloninger of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Stella Faw of Jefferson and Mrs. Lenna Amos of Virginia Beach, VA; and eight grandchildren. The funeral was conducted July 8,1992 at 3:30 p.m. at Harry and Bryant Chapel in the Oaks in Charlotte. Rev. John Futterer, pas- tor of Resurrection Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Sharon Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Steve Plonk, Chad Plonk, Chris Plonk, Marc Byers, Dick Amos, Michael Cloninger, Tony Lee Cloninger, and Darin Cloninger. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Vest and Dennis Gray. Memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 600 Crescent Circle, Kings Mountain, 28086. ROBERT FORD Robert B. "Rob" Ford, 75, of 1004 Woodside Drive, died July 10,1992 at VA Hospital in Salisbury. A native of Cleveland County, he was son of Lillian Mae Davis ‘Ford of Kings Mountain and the late William L. Ford and husband of the late Ada Rozella Costner Ford. He was a retired employee of Lithium Corporation of Bessemer ‘ City and a member of Holland Memorial Baptist Church of Bessemer City. A veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II, he was recipient of the Purple Heart. Surviving are one brother, Charles "Rocky" Ford of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Roberta Whitaker and Shirley Hawkins, both of Kings Mountain, and Betty Hollifield of McAdenville and Hazel Martin of Hickory Grove, SC... The funeral was conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. at Harris Chapel by Rev. Kenneth Anthony. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. BILLY RAY MILLWOOD GAFFNEY, SC - Billy Ray Millwood, 65, of Apartment 58, Beltline Courts, died July 12,1992 at home. A native of Cherokee County, he was son of the late Thomas Dwight and Altie Burgess Millwood. He was a retired textile employee and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Ruthel Millwood; three sons, Fred Thomas Millwood of Kings Mountain, Frankie Millwood of Forest City, and Jay Millwood of ‘Travelers Rest; one brother, Drama kicks off church celebration A historical drama Thursday night at 7 p.m. will kickoff special events celebrating the 150th an- niversary of Bethlehem Baptist Church. A reception/birthday party will follow the drama. A display of old items will be set up in the chapel. Members and former members with memorabilia to contribute to the display should contact Ginger Hall or Flora Ledford. The church will hold Homecoming Day on August 2. Rev, Norman Brown, a former pas- tor, will fill the pulpit at the 11 a.m, worship hour, Dinner will be served following the service. The anniversary celebration will be held at 2 p.m, The community is invited to at- tend all the events. Bethlehem Baptist Church was organized in 1842 in the Bethlehem Community near Kings Mountain, @ David Baptist Church will serve breakfast Saturday from 6 a.m,-10 a.m, at the church across from Bethware School, The public is invited. JIM WOOTEN BESSEMER CITY - James Alexander "Jim" Wooten, 70, of 601 S. 8th Street, died July 13, 1992 at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was a native of Greenville, SC, son of the late Forest Alexander and Pansy Granger Wooten. He was married to Alma Wilkie Wooten, who survives. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain. Rev. Dick Whitener officiated. Burial was in Sunnyside Baptist Church Cemetery. RICHARD A. BOYD WASHINGTON, DC - Richard Alexander Boyd, 78, died July 3, 1992 at VA Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, : he was the son of the late Miles and Eliza Boyd. He was a US | Army veteran.
