Mauney Memori Helen Lancaster, standing, are the newly- al Library. Three join Mauney Memorial Library board The three new members of the board of Jacob S. Mauney Memorial Library -- Dr. Jeff Mauney, Willie Marable, and Helen Lancaster -- were welcomed at the annual business meeting of the group Monday moming. The board also elected Jan Neisler as the new chairman and Dr. Mauney as the new vice-chair- man and reelected Edie Bridges as secretary. Included in the business of the meeting was the recognition of the outgoing directors Charles Mauney, chairman, Bill Davis, vice-chairman, and Grady Howard. Kings Mountain City Council recognized the three retiring board members with framed resolutions at Tuesday night's council meeting. Howard has served for 30 years, Mauney for 12 years, and Davis for six years on the board which serves by appointment of city council, Mrs. Bridges presided at the li- brary board meeting which includ- ed the annual report of librarian Rose Turner. Turner said the total circulation of the library is 43,304 and said that 52 percent of the readership Car wash Saturday True Gospel Holiness Church is having a car wash Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the church parking lot. A total of 341 children, including those from the Sumrher Day Camp program, par- ticipated with an average weekly attendance of 198. A total of 127 earned certificates for reading six books and attending three pro- grams. Other members of the board are Annie Corry, Pat Plonk, Hazel Fryer, and Laura Houser. First Carolina p First Carolina Federal Savings Bank had its annual sharcholders mecting Monday at its offices at 300 WEst Mountain Street. President Gary H. Whitaker wel- comed sharcholders and reported on the activitics of the savings bank. Whitaker told those present that the year ending March 31, 1992, had been a good one with profits of over $322,000, representing a 125 percent gain. In addition, he report- cd that over $400,000 had been added to reserves, and that the bank had closed over $20,000,000 in loans during the past year. She. was honored at a birthday party which featured the Snoopy theme in decorative details.
