Battleground, reported that the ceiling and boards on the side of the building were damaged $850. Nothing was reported taken during the break-in. ; Freddie Adams, 1510 Northwoods, Eric Jermaine Hunter, 41 Carolina Gardens, and Mark Jennings, 34 Carolina Gardens, said they were at a car wash on York Road when four black males ages 17-19 fired into the passenger side of their 1986 Civic Honda do- ing $300 damage. No one was in- jured. Donna Nester, Route 4, Martinsville, VA, reported theft of her pocketbook containing a checkbook, $200 in currency, a Virginia driver's license and key to her vehicle. Police found a blue Huffy bicy- cle and stored the property for the owner to claim. Larry Dunn, 206 Juniper St., re- ported that someone took gasoline from his 1988 Blazer. WRECKS AUGUST 31 A 1978 Chevrolet operated by Amos Greene, 305 N. Carpenter St., backed into a 1986 Chevy op.erated by Michael Payne, Route 3, Bessemer City. Damages totaled $450. A U.S. postal truck operated by John Lewis Houze on East King Street struck a 1986 Ford truck op- erated by Barbara W. White, 132 Wooding Place. Damages were es- timated at $470. SEPTEMBER 3 A 1989 Mazda operated by Patricia Martin, 1003 Linwood Rd., struck a 1982 Toyota operated by Kimberly Simonds, Route 1, Bessemer City, Damages were esti- mated at $750. An Asphalt Paving truck operat- ed by James Hayward Cash Jr., Route 1, Bostic, struck a 1982 Dodge operated by Shirley Reed, ID Kingswood, on Battleground Avenue. Damages were estimated at $200. A 1984 Ford owned by Robert McRae Jr., Merrimont Ave., rolled from a parked position at Pizza Hut parking lot and hit a 1983 Datsun owned by Kevin Gass, 124 Biggers Rd., Grover. Damages were estimated at $475. Cars operated by Nellie Elder, 713 Floyd Street, and Doris Clary, 107 Baptist Tree Drive, hit on Phifer Road at the middle school driveway. Property damages were estimated at $500. SEPTEMBER 4 A 1989 Nissan operated by Lou Anne Parker, 21 Country Club Rd., pulled from the parking lot of First Union National Bank into the path of a car operated by Danny Shell, 415 Walls St., Shelby. Damages were estimated at $300. A 1970 Chevrolet operated by Leslie Lail, 142 Manville Drive, struck a 1986 Olds operated by Paula Eckerd, 153 Quail Hollow Drive, in the parking lot at King Mountain High School. Damages were estimated at $550. SEPTEMBER 5 Cars operated by Emest Camp, 1811 Alpine Drive, and Willis King, 1002 Linwood Road, bumped on Cleveland Avenue. Property damages were estimated at $50. Police cited Jeffrey Todd Allison 161 Payne St., with excessive speed after a one-car wreck on Bennett Drive.
