Church
111 €. Ring Street, Rings Mountain, NC
The Presbyterian Church of Kings Mountain was established with
eighteen members in 1884 with the Reverend E.P. Davis as pastor. During
' early years services were held ‘one Sunday a month in. the ARP and
Methodist Church buildings. In 1887 a building was erected at the corner
of King Street and Railroad Avenue with a manse close by. This was
followed in 1906 by a new building at the corner of Mountain Street and
Piedmont Avenue and in 1917 by a new manse at King and Carpenter
Streets. Pastors were shared by Long Creek, Shiloh, Hepsibah and
Bessemer City Churches until 1991 when a fulltime pastor was called by
the ninety-four members. In 1936 Mrs. C.E. Neisler gave a lot with a
house suitable for a manse at the corner of King and Gaston Streets. A
new church was erected and dedicated in 1937 with a membership of
301. In 1950 the old house was torn down and a modern home built on
the site. The same year a recreation building was added.
Under the leadership of many dedicated pastors, elders and deacons
all church programs have been carried on...Sunday school, nien and
women organizations, Boy and Girl Scouts, youth programs, missions
and community service. Church membership now numbers 230.
