Page 2A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, September 24, 1992 | Obituaries JOHN HENRY LEE SR. John Henry Lee Sr., 89, died September 18, 1992 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of York County, SC, he was son of the late Wylie Lee and Eliza Ross Lee. A member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Smyrna, SC, he served as chairman of the board of deacons and was long ac- tive in the church. He led the Senior Choir and was active in the Sunday School, serving as presi- dent and vice. president of District 2 Sunday School Congress, vice president of the N.C. and S.C. Singing Convention, president of the Stopping Pine Burial Aide Society and held various offices in Star Lodge 5, was Grand marshal of St. James Grand Lodge, Tyler of Star Lodge 5, member of Electra Chapter 12, Order of Eastern Star, and Court Director of Queen of Sheba of Court 1. He retired from Marietta Superior Stone Company of Kings Mountain. Surviving are three daughters, Laura Lee Pelham and Louise Lee Ford, both of Blacksburg, and Evelyn Loretta Lee Yancey of Durham; one son-in-law, Elton W. Yancey of Durham; one sister, Nehemiah Mobley of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Flay, who was reared by his grandparents, Betty, Malachi, S. L. Alton, Kirk, Nikita and Hezekiah; 12 great grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Rev. James Thompson, Rev. Larry Brooks, Rey. R. D. Abbott, Rev. James ‘White, Rev. John White and Elder = Eddie Lockhart officiated. Lodge Master William Morgan and Past “Master James McCree Jr. gave re- marks and Star Lodge No. 5 con- ducted the Masonic service. Rev. James Thompson gave the eulogy. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were members of Star Lodge 5 and flower bearers were members of Electra Chapter 12 and Queen of Sheba Court 1. DAVID LUTHER HANNAH JR. CAROLINA BEACH - David Luther Hannah Jr., 44, of 209 Goldsboro Ave., died September 20, 1992 at New Hanover Regional Hospital. A native of Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late David Luther and Bonnie Terry Hannah. He was former Police Chief of Carolina Beach and an employee of Hi-Tech Recreation. Surviving are one son, Deny Hannah of Kings Mountain; two ‘daughters, Karen Hannah and Kim ‘Hannah, both of Kings Mountain; ‘his grandmother, Annie Fletcher ‘Harbin of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Bill Hannah of fat wn HUNTER CHAMBERS Hunter Chambers is one year old Hunter Lee Chambers, son of Mike and Stephanie Chambers, celebrated his first birthday September 135. A birthday party with 40 family members and friends was held September 12 at his home, ‘Birthday clowns set the theme and a decorated cake was served with ice cream and party refreshments. Grandparents are Reggie and Kay Moss and Ray and Evelyn ‘Bridges, all of Kings Mountain, Great-grandmothers are Maggie Ford and Eva Moss of Kings “Mountain, : Charleston, SC and Jeff and Clayton Hannah, both of Kings Mountain; one sister, Bonnie Hannah of Kings Mountain, and seven grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Kings Mountain's Mountain Rest Cemetery. Rev. Albert Mills will officiate. EUGENE A. ROBERTS BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Eugene Anlo Roberts, 68, of 207 Beam Rd., died September 19, 1992 at Upstate Carolinas Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Mary McSwain Roberts and was married to Carolyn Sheppard Roberts. He was former owner of Roberts Repair Service in Blacksburg and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Dexter A. Roberts of Blacksburg; one daugh- ter, Marilyn R. Owen of Blacksburg; one brother, Perry M. Roberts of Southern Pines; one sis- ter, Zoe Roberts Childers of Blacksburg; and two grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Craig officiated. Burial was in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. BRYAN SHUFORD LOWELL - Bryan Shuford, 94, died September 19, 1992 at Royal Crest Health Care Center. He was a native of Grover and a retired textile employee. He was a member of Grover First Baptist Church and son of the late John and Ella Bridges Shuford. His wife was the late Maggie Camp Shuford. Surviving are two sons, J. B. Shuford of Gastonia and Howard Shuford of Key West, Florida; one daughter, Edna Shuford Bell of Belmont; one sister, Mattie Ponder of Grover; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great- great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at Grover First Baptist Church. Rev. John Bridges and Rev. Wayne Wike officiated. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. BRINTON CARROLL BLACKSBURG, S.C. - C.B. "Brinton" Carroll, 83, of 416 Possum Trot Road, died September 15, 1992 at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born April 24, 1909, he was the son of the late Johnson Goforth and Avalonia McSwain Carroll. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and was retired from Minette Mills in Grover. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae Bell Carroll, and a son, A. G. Carroll. Surviving are one son, Brenton L. Carroll of Blacksburg; two brothers, Ben Carroll of Cross Anchor, SC and Woodrow Carroll of Blacksburg; one sister, Zennia Morrow of Gaffney; eight grand- children and nine great-grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted September 17 at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. William Lee officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
