| Obituaries RICHARD OLIVER SR. Richard W. Oliver Sr., 68, of 113 Fulton Street, Kings Mountain, died December 12, 1992 at Kings ‘Mountain Hospital. ! A native of Spartanburg County, S.C., he was the son of the late Coonrod and Lula Mae Tucker Oliver. He was retired with 26 years of service as a shovel opera- ‘tor with Vulcan Material Company in Blacksburg, S.C. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Second Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Viola Blackwell Oliver of Kings Mountain; four sons, Richard W. Oliver Jr., Carlton Oliver and Gary Oliver, all of Kings Mountain, and Timothy Oliver of Conover; three daughters, Rebecca Chitwood, Scotty Renee Ruppe and Deborah Ann Smith, all of Kings Mountain; five brothers, W.T. Oliver of Rock Hill, S.C., Donald Oliver of Greenwood, S.C., and Charles Oliver, Haywood Oliver and Elbert Oliver, all of Kings Mountain; four sisters, Patricia Caison of Laurinburg and Doris Short, Eula Mae Cobb and Peggy Jackson of Kings Mountain; and 16 grandchil- dren. — The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Gene Land Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. WALTER MCKINNEY SR. Walter Earl McKinney Sr., 63, of 308 East King Street, Kings Mountain, died December 10, 1992 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Bessemer City, he was the son of the late James Frank McKinney and Eunice Page McKinney. He was a retired textile employee and a member of Interdenominational Holiness Church. He was married to the late Marie Burchfield McKinney. He is survived by six sons, Walter | McKinney: Jr. of Blacksburg, S.C., Mark McKinney of Gastonia, Jerry McKinney Sr. of Lincolnton, and Jimmie McKinney, Timothy McKinney and Steven McKinney, all of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Tina Layel of Dallas and Rose Mary Toney and Renee Jackson of Kings Mountain; 15 grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Bryson City; four sons, Luther Herron of Baltimore, Harley Herron of Dunn, Charles Herron of Kings Mountain, and Curtis Herron of Grover; five daughters, Evelyn Spencer, Eloise Stewart, Annetta Costner and Mary Camp of Kings Mountain, and Joe Ann Ellis of Klamath Falls, Oregon; five broth- ers, Henry Herron and Albert Herron of Bryson City, Lee Herron of Stanley, Dave Herron of Belmont and Odell Herron of Gastonia; five sisters, Macey Woodard of Marion, Tenia Houser of High Point, Dallie Sanders of Franklin, Maxine Bradshaw of Drexel and Betty Lou Sheppard of Rock Hill, S.C.; 43 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren, The funeral was conducted by the Rev. MAURICE HENSON Maurice "Bud" Cecil Henson, 75, 1019 York Rd., died December 14, 1992 in Cleveland Memorial Hospital. He was the retired owner and operator of Southern Screen Products in Shelby. Surviving are his wife} Lona McCurry Henson; one son, Scott Henson of Kings Mountain; his stepmother, Helen Falls Henson of Gastonia; one brother, Max Henson of Charlotte; two sisters, Catherine Ivey of Carson City, Nev. and Helen Medlin of China Grove; one half-sister, Tena Denoville of Atlanta; and one grandchild. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with the Rev. John Jennings officiating. Burial was in Gaston Memorial Park. P.A. Surviving are his wife, Cora J. Champion; one son, Michael Champion Ji. of Coffeyville; one daughter, Carolyn Wiggs of Tulsa, Okla; one brother, James S. A native of Camden, NJ, she was wife of Raymond Leslie Whitney and daughter of the late William and Edith Dow Matthews.
